When Starting Windows 7 Boot Updater I get the APPCRASH Error

I have recently downgraded from Win8 down to Windows 7 Ultimate and have been using windows 7's enhancd customisation, however when i tryed to use 'Windows 7 Boot Updater' I got this error

Nope Preinstalled with windows 7 home premium but sony were doing a promotion to upgrade and tryout windows 8 i did and i didnt like it and when i sent back they sent it again with Windows 7 Ultimate,

May I ask why you want this particular piece of software. Is it not a third party app that interferes with the Win 7 system or have I got that wrong. I am trying to work out what use it is?
For now I would do a system restore to a point behind when you installed it so you can start off claen!

Run PC in safe mode

-Click on Start button and type “msconfig” in search box Locate msconfig.exe and click on it.
-Make sure that you are login using admin login credentials.
-In system configuration utility click on General Tab | Selective Startup.
-Now click on check box Load startup items to clear.
-Click on Services Tab and select Hide all Microsoft services.
-Disable all the entries.
-Click OK and restart your computer

Run disk ceanup

-Run Disk Cleanup UtilityIf Windows 7 appcrash exist
-Click on Start button.
-Go to All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.
- Select your system drive and clean it.

Repair window 7

-insert Windows 7 installation DVD and start it while running existing Windows.
-On Installation page, click on Repair Windows 7.
-Follow on screen simple instructions

I would not want anything to interfere with Boot up. It can only cause Boot Up to take longer surely and most of us are looking at way to speed up that operation. I invested in an SSD for that very purpose. I would recommend that you forget it!

The only thing i can do is restore but ive lost my 1tb external drive to back all my stuff up

True True, I admit It is a cosmetic thing, I doubt changing the gif will alter perfomance but its not work the risk as you said.
