Hi all as above. I have read that my board does not support quad sli unless I buy some daughter board ?
I have 2 Nvidia 295 GTX graphics cards that have 2 pcb's per card. I will be using PCI-E slots 1 and 3.

Will this rig work please, or should I sell and go for another card ?

Thanks in advance

Hi many thanks for the link and the evidence is apparent, but I have read on forums that that baord does not support quad sli. The fact that my Gcards have 2 Gpu's each = 4, I am thinking it wont support them ?

I believe they're talking about one of these, which should have come with your board....

sli_connectors2.jpg

Also some cards (video) may also card with one.

And it would also help if you specifically told us what board you have since you say the link provided is what your board does.

The board linked clearly says....

Multi-GPU Support
Supports NVIDIA® 3-Way SLI™ Technology
Supports AMD CrossFireX™ Technology

Look under specifications. Perhaps you're getting confused with something else?

Quad SLI on ASUS Rampage III Extreme is not possible

OK, as pointed out - dual (2 cards) SLI is doable with your board. Quad (4 cards) is not.

So, since you have two cards, you're good to go. Four cards won't work. You also need the connector I showed earlier, which either your card or motherboard should have supplied.

Hope this helps.

Sell your cards mate. Quad won't work and it's far easier to upgrade.

Quad SLI mean 4 physical cards, not the number of GPU chips.

Actually mate, SLI is based on number of GPU Chips, not physical cards. A Single x2 card is two GPU's and is considered SLI.

2 physical GTX 295 cards = 4 GPU's = quad sli

I really wouldn't know as I don't do multi-card setups. I've also never used NVidia cards. Strictly ATI/AMD.

Anyway this is my cue to bow out and let those more familiar with multi-card setups to chime in.

Good luck.
