Solved A graphics card good enough to game with a 300W psu to run it?

hello everyone! i currently have THIS PC and its good enough specs to game! well all but the graphics, it will run games now such as black ops 2 easily but i need dedicated graphics for some games. My problem is, I would like to put a graphics card inside but it's a very VERY low power psu (300W) so is there a affordable graphics card that would let me run other games ? such as blacklight retribution?

I don't think there's much you can get really. On the Nvidia side there's cards like the GT430 and GT630 that require a 300w PSU. They should be able to handle Black Ops 2 and Blacklight Retribution. Not sure what there is that AMD offer. Above the GT430 and GT630 you ideally need a 400w or 500w PSU.

Get a new PSU 500w+ and never look back, you don't want that tier of card for gaming, limitation.

.....and no, you can't run that, according to specs on Newegg.com, that requires a 400 watt PSU.

Minimalist gaming card with reasonable performance now: Radeon HD 7790 or Nvidia 650 or better is where I would start.

You might even want to consider going with a A10 CPU if that motherboard allows it, with I think a Radeon HD 7660D on board instead.

Not very hard. You just disconnect every cable from its component that you see, unscrew the power supply from the back of the case and remove it. Slot in the new PSU and screw it in, then connect everything back up. Take a note of what connector plugs in where.

PSU wise, check out yours and measure it's dimensions, just in case, not all cases are the same as not all power supplies in the same shape, and having to physically modify your case to fit one is not a fun place to be.

It's a cake swap out though for the most part. A 3 on a 1-10 difficulty scale, RAM is a 2, and CMOS battery is a one. :devil: muhaha

Lowest card I recently seen by AMD was a HD4650 no power connections and requires 400w PSU and that pretty much my take I installed one recently on a core duo setup runs like a dream and happens to run smooth

Yea I wouldn't run any graphic card lower than 400w even if the graphic card is rated for 300w. The figures I got were straight off the Nvidia site, but if you look at a manufacturers version they're all 400w.

Looks like I have two options, upgrade the APU I have from the A6-3670K black edition too the A8 top range black edition for the better performance clock speeds and graphics, orrrr buy a PSU and then a nice graphics card. Time to save up some money :]
