Hi,

I was wondering my PC runs the Dead Island games with lag. It's really annoying, my friend's PC doesn't lag and his is less powerful. I run the games on Steam.

My PC specs:
Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.4GHz
16.0 GB of RAM

My video card:
AMD Radeon HD 6450

I figure there's got to be some settings or parameters somewhere to adjust something. I even put the games to best performance settings and it doesn't help much.

Thanks,
Peatawn

Well the card is probably your issue. I looked it up and apparently at 1280x1024 resolution you can only run that game on Medium settings. That game is sort of graphically demanding so lightening the settings and reducing resolution will make it better.

You could also try a game booster but I don't know what brand your card came from (MSI, Evga, etc.)

Yup that card is extremely weak you should run at least HD7770 or HD 7850 even a HD7790 will be better and perform almost to a 7850 spec overclocking would show good gains

+ 1 on your card but, if your budget is as tight as mine is... Perhaps disabling hypertheading while gaming can help? Also, check what is running on your background that doesn't need to run when you are playing (pesky MS search indexing loves to do so at inappropriate times ;), malware, spyware, A.V., Messenger, things like this).

Your gpu is too weak, you need to upgrade or lower the settings. Not much else you can really do.

cpu is overclocked in bios
my freind had the same problem, His specific problem is that his PSU power supply is too weak.
let us know what power amount your putting into your computer.

If your running catalyst 12 or + u can change your graphics card setting to performance instead of quality usualy found under 3D settings or performance manager.

And I have also found that AMD tends to be more unstable if your looking for getting good graphics look at a gtx 650 or 60 TI. With these you will be able to run your games 50 FPS+.

also if you have a Custom PC make sure your GPU is in the x16 GPU slot not x8

Thanks for your replies everyone. Right now my budget is tight so getting a better video card can be a bit tricky. So I started from the first reply from sdadamo to reduce my resolution. I have a 24 inch monitor so my resolution was 1920x1080 and so was the game's resolution in the video options. I lowered both to 1360x768 and the game is running SOOOOO smoothly I almost orgasm. I've played countless hours of Dead Island with shuttering and lag I thought I got used to it. Then I got Riptide and it was the same... except this time it was worse when it came to killing zombies. It shutteres and lagged so much I could never escape a Thug's swings.

Anyway, I'm enjoying this so much now it could make me forget all the other game flaws. LOL

Thanks again everyone. I'll look to buying the best card on the market in the next couple of weeks!

Well if you lowered your actual monitor's resolution, that wasn't necessary but it can help because the pixels are bigger that way, thus enabling your GPU to focus on the game more(theoretically). Better start saving if you want a better card ;).
