From Raphael :- x64 delayed due to issues.

Okay, I pushed all the right buttons and nothing happened. Clearly, the x64 version of Windows “7″ needs more attention. Sorry guys, need another day.

Is fixing patcher issues on x64... about 4 hours ago from Ping.fm

Problems with Blue Badge

Robin Wilson November 11, 2008 at 9:19 am

Thanks for this great tool.
It works really well except that in a multi-user environment it does not set the security on the files so that other users can access the files.

In the case of explorer if I log on as User1 and apply the patch and then try to log on as User2 all I will get is a black screen and nothing will happen. If I go to task manager to try and run explorer.exe it will tell me I cannot access the file due to lack of permissions.

I have to log in as User1 again and add users/administrators to the files with at least read access and then any user can still log onto the pc and also benefit from the new superbar!

Looking forward to implimenting the x64 Blue Badge version.
Just wish I had a touch screen!

I'm glad I'm running the x32 Windows 7.

@NormCameron, Yeah I talked with Rafael about that and we tracked it down..Its caused by BlueBadge placing the patched files in %temp% where the OS can move the files on reboot since the originals are in use...Problem was the files Inherit the current user`s ACL since %temp% is a peruser location....So when the comp reboots and replaces the files that where in use....the new files inherit the current user ACL  He is releasing a new X32 patch either tomorrow or Friday ;)

He also said the 64bit version will have to properly wait a few more days while he debugs Windows to figure out why the x64 version is using extra checks :(

I’ve applied this (thanks for making by the way!), restarted, and now - I get no video or sound...video and audio files fail to play, etc.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Also, in addition to no media (sound/video), I also get an explorer.exe not responding error at every shutdown :(

Am I the only one with these problems...?!?

I've done a search around, but can't find anybody else reporting this problem. The Blue Badge patch is for PDC pre-beta build 6801 so I'd check the version first. The other thing is I noticed some people had problems with audio drivers on installation. Could it be your issues are driver related and not due to the patch?

I have Build 6801, that I do know. I also had no audio driver problems on installation, it worked perfectly fine until I ran the Blue Badge patch and restarted. I also searched, and I found at least one other person reporting this problem.

Do a System Restore and then try rerunning the patch...If you can reproduce the error we will need some files and some logs but we both agree its very usual BlueBadge caused the problem because it doesn't touch the Audio framework files  ;)

I don't have a System Restore point I could revert to, however I did run the backup file. How do I restore using that?
