Help me Clone Win 7 and Win XP Dualboot to a new HDD

Hi, I have Windows 7 64 bit and Windows XP 64 bit installed on my aging 1TB HDD which I want to make a exact clone out of on to a new HDD., that I can just plug and play.

I used Maricum Reflect to Clone my old hard drive entirely to the new one, Didn't use EaseUS as it was trying to change the partition sized for some reason instead of making a exact clone.. After cloning it I was able to boot into Windows 7, but Windows XP started to freeze at the welcome screen. Got many errors trying to repair install windows XP and it messes upa lot no to mention the boot manager. To top it off it also displays as Drive F instead like when its on windows it used to automatically changed its path to C.

Can any body help me Clone my drive so I can just plug and play and get back instantly?

Is there no Software that can instant get this task done? Or do I need to do a fresh install of both OS's which defeats the purpose of a clone anyway.

Hello and welcome birdman I think the Macrium can do just partitions mate and not just the whole sheebang in one go

Yep mate worth a shot you can always adjust the partitions afterwards as you say. By the way there is a new version of Partition Wizard (8) available and is much better Best Free Partition Manager Freeware and free partition magic for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows XP 32 bit & 64 bit. No luck, I dont get it why something so important and straight forward needs to much work and hassle. anyway, thinking of either 1. deleting xp and setting Win 7 as the only os or reinstalling xp and windows 7. what do you recommend? do you find the need for xp anymore? i wanted to keep xp in case I needed to run some old stuff I dont know or if Win 7 failed on me I could trouble shoot in XP.

whats the right procedure to do a dual install of xp and 7?

I was reading this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8057-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp.html but couldn't come to an conclusion, should I install xp first say on a 50 GB partition and then install 7 after? they should both be primary partition drives right? a few tips would be appreciated. thanks

Maybe just put it on a separate drive and then when you want it get the BIOS to boot from that drive - bit of a fiddle but at least it won't be mixing and matching eh?
Unless you have an old machine that XP can run on of course.

I have two machines with XP on them one entirely my faithful old Dell and one that I had given me that I keep three drives in with XP / 7 / and Ubuntu - I just change the SATA leads over. Yes I am a bit potty

Since you have w7 Ultimate you can use XP mode http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8247-windows-xp-mode-install-setup.html
XP support is ending in less than a year but is handy if some software just won't run in w7.
