Files Ready to Be Written to the Disc

Ok, I never got this info or 'problem' on Vista (32bits Ultimate)

Now on Windows 7 (32bits Ultimate) sometimes when I put a full DVD/CD full (I mean not empty) on the drive the explorer show me this message:

And it's always this file: desktop.ini

So, how can I stop that annoying message? And why it's happening?

That is like the auto-run file.... Just ignore it.

Not sure how to turn it off, though you could mess with autoplay settings.

Does this happen with all DVDs, or just certain ones?

But it happens to all DVDs. Strange. Tried now to check it. And all DVDs (movies and files) with the same message/warning.

What happens if you delete the file?

Ah. I bet it is something you accidentally moved there, and now it is waiting to be written... So yeah, try to delete it and that should fix it.

Its a leftover file from a previous burn. I had the exact same problem. the burning folder is c:\users\your user name\?????/. Im sure someone knows but my brain is jello right now. If you search google for it you will also find it.

But I did what Lordbob75 told, I clicked the file and deleted it. So, it's gonne.

Desktop.ini is basically a txt file that holds the location of open files. like on desktop there is a hidden desktop.ini file with these contents

Every now and then (often when its made visible) it acts like a regular file and needs to be deleted from the burning folder

I just burned a new DVD and the file is there again. Telling me that's ready to be written. How can I stop that?

Just for Ken's peace of mind enter "shell:cd burning" into the start search bar to find the burning folder

Are you copying/moving entire folders to the ODD for burning? Perhaps you are copying the desktop.ini file. This can be examined by opening the file and determining the customizations applied.

I do not desktop.ini in my DVD drive/folder

What do you think of them? I have heard that Win7 and SSD are like Hot chocolate and stale bread... not very good together.

PS: I had the Dsektop.ini only when I use DROP and DRAG, so i use Copy and paste.
never have the problem since.

No files on that folder. Thanks for the tip. But the folderi s empty.

There's no temporary files to delete.

I'm going to check the desktop.ini content the next time I see it.

Do you have the system set to show hidden files and not hide sytem files - if so this could be perfectly normal behavior

As all other shell folders have a desktop.ini file it is understandable that the CD Burning folders do too.

I have just checked on my system and I have a desktop.ini file in the cd burn folder and I've never used the feature
