Solved I suspect my motherboard network card is broken, what do i do?

Hi so i got onto my desktop computer "its not the laptop in my info"
When i logged in i found that the internet didnt connect, i checked in the back of the computer to see if it was something wrong with the cable or if it got unplugged somehow, i then noticed that the lamps that use to flash like crazy on the ethernet connector didnt give of any light, it used to flash in like orange and green, but this time nothing, i restarted the computer and nothing happened? i have a tiny pci slot left not a short and long, its a short short pci, so should i buy a network card or should i just give up the desktop computer and start using my laptop again, i dont whant to use my laptop becouse i sent it in for service becouse my fan failed.

Hey Sisrace. Before buying a new Network card, first check if the drivers are installed for the network card or not. IF after installing the drivers, still you get no light. Then, yes just buy a new card (they are cheap as well).

P.S What motherboard are you using in the desktop?

Thanks for fast answer, i have checked around a bit, one i cant upgrade the driver becouse i cant connect to the internet at all (only ethernet connection) i tryed inactivate an reactivate the network card and try play around some more but cant get it working, it could have been a software prob but it ends up that it isnt. so i will just find a cheap network card capible of more than 100mb/s or exactly 100mb/s
and apperantly its not pci its a mini pci-e

Ok will check it out, but i found a pretty cheap one that i feal like buying, i dont whant to throw away a lot of money on this computer, this card is found at a very lokal store so i can easely get it, and i seems pretty good for its costs its only like 100kr

the one you showed me is not a pci-e mini that my port comes up to be

Hey just quick thing thats not about this, i have a amd phenom 8750 x3 cpu in this thing
and are thinking of overclocking it becouse it never hits 40 degrees c while gaming, so i checken out and a guy said he got it up to 3ghz instead of 2,4 and it never hits 45degree c now after the overclock, he used the original cooler, do you recomend me to overclock and do you think it will boost my computer a lot?
also do you have any tips how to overclock and what i should be thinking of

oh... i later read that its hard to overclock this becouse of it not beeing tha black edition, so i have to overclock by voltage or something, and the dram is not overclockable or something..

What is the purpose of overclocking i.e. gaming? Because, if you just want to watch videos and surf net, then the stock frequency is capable to handle that.

um.. well im gaming all the time its so cool to game with 20fps not... so i whant to overclock but i dont whant to risk anything, and my psu is bad.. its a 300w psu :/,
im using a engt 430 gpu, that runs fine on my psu but i dont think it handles more than that..

Overclocking the CPU will enhance your gaming experience. But, that is not the only thing required for HD games. You would need a decent GPU and PSU. Regarding the temps mentioned in your post above, temp is something that depends on your case. How well is the cable management and how well the case is ventilated.

Man about the network card thing, it turned out to be my parents fault, they turned off the ethernet cable thing when we where gone so thats why the internet didnt work, i was not happy when i found out

I would avoid changing CPU voltage until you have a better understanding of overclocking and the consequences of the higher voltages and heat. Do a simple clock multilayer change and keep a eye on temps. You can damage the hardware. Look at OC'ing your GPU with software like ATI's Afterburner. For good game play the GPU is probably the most important factor.

Well my take in this is WHO pays the bill --!!!!

If you needed it on you should have organised it BEFORE you went away -- it's a good idea in any case if the property is empty to switch off the Internet.

If my place is empty then only the freezer / fridge are left on -- and heating comes on if temperature drops to avoid having freezing water pipes. Saves energy and is much better anyway.

If away for longish periods then even fridge / freezer are emptied and turned off.

We don't even need intruder alarms etc where we are -- advantage of being out of large metropolitan multi national cities.

Just a gripe from someone getting older now who just gets a bit sick of youngsters expecting to be provided with EVERYTHING even as they age into their 30's. !!!

Weell.. sure they pay the bill but my parents have no clue about what their economics is, they are like, yeah im renting this car while the other one is on service, so what did it cost? um idunno, they told me that most months they are suprised that they accualt managed to survive the month, we dont really have a good income...
