i recently just bought new motherboard asus m3a76-cm
overclocked my cpu got bsod when logged on then it rebooted and now the bios page is fine and the loading screen is a stable picture (i have vista loading screen) but soon as it boot it to windows the picture goes crazy flicking like terrible and the picture was like scrolling down the screen like it was a slide show . so i thought it must be my video card but still crazy picture even when i take video card out now im getting really worried.. i go to the safe mode option page but still crazy moving verticaly moving screen .. so i try to load up a vista boot cd to see if thats the problem but it lets me load the windows files and the screen is perfectly still but then it goes crazy once loading is finished...so i try with a different motherboard ,and still having same problem ,,,is the cpu f~~~ed? or hardrive

im gutted i overclocked it to my preference ,,but i had to go back to push it further ,,now i feel like **** because i really need this computer now

Id bet its the graphic card driver. GO to acer get the correct driver for your system, boot in safe mode and install the driver

In spite of your horrible grammar, I am trying to read this.

Are you saying that the menu where you select Safe Mode or Normal Boot is also behaving strangely.

A simple yes or no, please.

All of your BIOS settings are set to Auto or Normal or Default?

If yes, you may have damaged something.

You also seem to have said that you tried a different mobo and get similar results.

Did you use the same CPU on both mobos, or just the same HDD, or both the CPU and HDD?

i fixed it ,,

another interesting example of someone thinking they've broken their computer by messing around with it. they then start kicking themselves (oh why did i do that?) and try all sorts of complicated solutions (swapping mobos?), only to fail, so panic sets in followed by a quick scramble to the forums where they breathlessly rattle off a quick post having lost control of grammar and punctuation, only to find that the problem was due to a loose power cable to the monitor. :D

well, that's how you learn, i suppose.

gilly, i'm glad you've solved your problem, this post is not a dig at yourself, i am merely making an observation - i've done similar things myself in the past, and i'm sure i will continue to do so...:o

I can remember many instances of needing to turn on a power strip to fix "I can't print/boot".

Recently, I emptied a closet looking for an old DVD drive when mine wouldn't spin up. It wasn't connected following a CPU cooling fan replacement.

It happens.

How about forgetting to plug in the AC cord, after T/S a large peripheral ?

My last was meant as a joke, about "the manual", nothing more...

It was not intended as a slur, or any other kind of 'mean' intent...

Sorry, and my apologies to all, for any misunderstandings. :o
(Shoulda used that 'rolling guy'...)

Chuck

Or, intending to boot from floppy, and its not connected to the lappie?

It definitely happens to everybody, at some time or another!
OTOH, that's the last thing we ever think of.

Hee is oe my lcd would not start up it would flash bright and then I could hear the logon sound but no [picture. so I presss resart button sometimes 3 or 4 times then it would come opn. Finally one day after pressing it 6 times I decided it was broke. Not having a backup I rushed out to best buy and bought another. Everything worked great. So I decide to sell as is on the bay. I take the old one to the garage and clean it up, take my ai compressor and blow thru the vents. I then brig it upstairs and after a day decide out of the blue to plug it in too see what happens so as to explain the problem accurately to potential buyers only to watch it come right on work in dual display mode, turn off and turn right back on. So I now own 2 working Lcd's.Why does it work now? Hell if I know dust bunnies?
