SF Diagnostic Tool - Using for Troubleshooting

Using SF Diagnostic Tool v5 For Troubleshooting

   Information
The SF Diagnostic Tool and SF Debug Tool is used to collect diagnostic information from your computer required to analysis Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and other troubleshooting purposes for Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

You must be logged in as an administrator to be able to use either tool.

   Note
SF Diagnostic Tool created by Shyam (Capt.Jack Sparrow).

Changelog for 5.0.0.6
  • Fixed typo in button
  • Added DXDIAG log
  • Added System Info Log - Log will also contain product ID, I was told with product ID we could find if Windows is genuine or not.
  • Minor bug fixes
   Warning
Some antivirus or firewall programs may detect SF Diagnostic Tool as a Trojan. It's just a False positive because the publisher is unknown.

There is nothing to worry about as the SF Diagnostic Tool is 100% safe and will not harm your computer.

Here's How:

1. Click/tap on the Download button below to download SF Diagnostic Tool.
Download

2. Save the ZIP file to your desktop, open it, and extract (drag and drop) the SF_Diagnostic_Tool.exe file to your desktop.

3. Right click on or press and hold the extracted SF_Diagnostic_Tool.exe file, and click/tap on Run as administrator.

4. If prompted by UAC, then click/tap on Yes.

5. Click/tap on the Grab All button, and click/tap on OK for each notice dialog until it's finished.screenshot.png
Success.jpg
6. You will now have a folder saved on your Desktop with the name of SF_DD_MM_YYYY (SF_day_month_year) that includes the information from each button in the tool.

7. ZIP the SF_DD_MM_YYYY folder, then rename the ZIP folder to your user name here at Vista Forums, Seven Forums, or Eight Forums.

8. When you are finished, you can close the SF Diagnostic Tool.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
2, I have given the default location %userprofile%\Desktop as the default location. If it's not accessible then the tool will not work. If it's not getting created that means the default locations in the registry is messed up.

Nope! I placed it on my second hard disk since I never run new softwares on the main hard disk where the OS is located!

Isn´t it possible for this program to execute it´s processes from an external hard disk?

It's just a tool to gather information, it doesn't install anything.

Just run it from the desktop like it was designed.

I'm attempting to solve a BSOD problem, and have downloaded and run the SF Diagnostic Tool as per instructions. However, there is no file created anywhere with the info we need. I have searched high and low on the computer, it is not being created anywhere.

The instructions say that this is due to the "default locations in the registry" being "messed up", but not what to do about this situation. Is there any other method that can be used for posting to the BSOD thread? (I'm primarily having this problem in Win 8, so it would be on that Forum.) I have two other programs that DO give me this information, the very exhaustive BlueScreenView and the less-detailed WhoCrashed. I could upload from one of those programs.

Never mind, I just found it, after reading thru the previous posts. It wound up on my D drive, which is where I have my libraries. Never moved my user profile there, so I don't know why the dump file saved to that location.

In my case, the tool decided to create the folder in another location, rather than my current desktop. I found it on a different drive, where I keep my documents and data... it was under D>Users>DJ>Desktop. My user profile is actually located on C drive (with the OS), so this made no sense to me, but that's where it was. Try looking in any folder you have that's called "Desktop".

I downloaded the Diagnostic Tool and put it on my Desktop as instructed. However, every time I click "grab all," it gives me the following message:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the pplication will close immediately. Could not complete operation on some files and directories. See the Data property of the exception for more details."

After that, the DT doesn't seem to do anything-- the progress bar sits idly. I've tried doing them individually, and Minidump gives me the same message (and CPU-Z just leads to a window saying "Page not found.")

P.S. The Details box of the message gives me the following:

"See the end of this message for details on invoking

Should I try JIT debugging, or is that not the actual problem here?

SF Diagnostic Tool

I can't download the SF Diagnostic Tool, every time I try I get this error message:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

I followed the instructions and downloaded everything right, but and even hit continue after I got this message. Then I hit "grab all" and it never finishes grabbing all the info off my computer...at least not after 15 minutes.

Help!

-Allen

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

And While trying to fetch the Driver list i get the following error -

Stupid question, perhaps, but if I am getting a BSOD and my system won't start, how can I install and run this program?

You can't, you need to resolve the BSOD issue first. Best to start your own thread and fully describe your problem, when it occurs and fill out your system specs.
