Hello! so i bought some corsair 1600mhz 8Gb ram for my Hp pavilion 2111so and i late,y made a geekbench test just becouse... S anyway it said my ram was 670mhz and i was like what the?? im having 1600mhz, so i thought, maybe my system is not using my rams full potencial and becouse its a apu system i need to have the fatsest ram possible to get any playable framerates, How do i easely find the ram thing n the bios so i can put it up to 1600mhz just in case, and no, it where 1600mhz ram in it stock so its not a compability problem,

An now to the cpu, My cpu is 1.9 ghz quad core amd something, and it says its at "Max turbo" 2.8 ghz, how do i activate that turbo thing? Becouse in the catalyst controllcenter in the power managment segment the cpu thinngy only go up to 1.9ghz soo, whats up with this?
Is it just that max overclocking is 2.8ghz or is it automatic becouse i have never seen my clock speeds automaticly go up

I hope hanging up your harddrives in rubber-bands for noise reasons isn't too harmful for the drives :S, but eh, rather silence than lasting drives.. :|
Ram speed is controlled by the motherboard or cpu, depending what model it is. Just buying faster ram does not make the system run faster. Laptops are very limited to what upgrades you can do. Maybe swap in a faster cpu, add more memory but not faster memory.

On my Inspiron 1525 I swapped out the 1.6ghz cpu for a compatible 2.4 ghz cpu, changed from 2gb mem to 4gb mem. That brought the WEI up from 3.0 to 3.8, I am limited by the onboard gpu, nothing I can do about that. It was worth the trouble, pita to work on most laptops. You can find these older cpu's on evil bay very cheap. Just be sure the mobo supports it.

The thing i was after is, my mobo is compatible with 1600mhz ram so is my cpu, my computer is about half a year old and it says 4gb ram ( can be upgraded to 8Gb ) So i bought 2x4gb 1600mhz and swapped them with the one 4gb 1600mhz ram stick, im though suspecting that the mobo is not using the rams full potential and thinking its a slower speed or something, and becuse my computer is running onboard graphics its a very big thing about ram, faster gpu memory yeilds more fps in games, and becouse i have onboard graphics my system ram is also my gpu ram,

Looking on the Crucial memory adviser it certainly looks like your laptop should support 1600MHz ram, I would suggest entering the bios and having a look to see if there are any options to change the memory speed.

Most bios default ram to 1333MHz, you said yours appeared to be running at 670, well don't forget it's double date rate memory so it will actually be running at twice that reported speed which is actually near as dam it 1333MHz.

Paul.

Maybe it is locked then, I would not worry too much as you are running 1333MHz anyway. I know you want to run at 1600 but it really won't make much difference.

Yeah I feel your pain, it's not just HP, pretty much all laptops have next to no options in the bios for changing anything.
As I said before, it says you can use 1600MHz ram in your laptop on the Crucial checker, but it doesn't say that you can run it at full speed I guess.

Paul.

Well i was thinking of changing to the stock ram and see if it whent up to 1600mhz, unfortunatly its only 4gb then, if i get that much more fps i may change it back or something, but if not i will use 8gb becouse its extremely handy with 8gb ram
