Haswell may not be a big deal as first thought

The thing I'm holding my breath about is that when I built my current rig I was reading that Ivy Bridge-E was going to come out on Socket 2011. Figured it was a good upgrade path, since I wasn't going to wait. But that was only speculation at the time.
Anyone heard what platform it will actually be on?

Could of sworn I just saw leaked info on that and it's supposed to be 2011 platform

I'm sure it will work in the original Socket 2011 motherboards, but there will also be a new line of them with what few native Ivy Bridge features there are to implement.

It has always been slated for socket 2011. Just like you could run an Ivy Bridge CPU in a Sandy Bridge socket 1155 motherboard, you will be able to run an IB-E CPU in a SB-E socket 2011 mobo.

So I was deep into reading Big Tabs Post on the Haswell and coming down to a post that someone feels they figured out which chips will run better then others

Personally I agree with Kelly Luck of the draw lot numbers is a BS way to try and get a decent chip to me all chips have potential just some built better then others

It was easier to get a good chip with Sandy Bridge than Ivy Bridge, and easier to get a good chip with Ivy Bridge than Haswell. Just from getting the manufacturing process down over time, the new batches of IB are suppose to be really good OC's.

Sad thing is could have done this months ago but really was trying to give AMD a chance to get better I don't see that in the future at all anymore let down for sure but they still run great

The only good overclocks I've been reading about for Haswells are on CPUs that have been delidded.

Allan you jumped ship before me I'm still loyal just I see the performance really is with Intel and no matter how high my clocks go im still getting beat out by less clocked pc's pretty disturbing i'm running 4.8 ghz to still get beat out by a 4.5 ghz machine that's pretty ridiculous to me :shock:

Haswell chips that can OC decently without delidding is certainly the exception, not the rule. We may be eating crow 6 months from now if they can fix these problems during manufacturing, but for now it looks like you have to have a rabbits foot lodged firmly in place to get a decent chip....not too enticing. I've read several people ordered a few chips and binned them on their own...the numbers were disappointing to say the least.

That is what sucks about all this doesn't Intel look at forums or some of there people

I'm sure someone has brought up why are the consumers de-lidding a product that has cost them 349.99 plus tax and in other countries higher

I mean really would it be that hard to figure out why the heat is so nasty or even go back to the conventional method they used before this boggles the mind

If I am paying top dollar for there performance they should take pride and properly take care of their fan base

They simply don't care to be honest. No real competition from AMD, and being able to save 5 cents per chip is enough for them to justify cutting corners. At the end of the day, it's worth it because Intel CPU's are just that good and we often overlook their shortcomings.

i have seen a few benchmarks even tho haswell cant over clock high it still beats ivy
