Install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 as UEFI with GPT

I bought a Samsung laptop (Model: NP350V5C-S0BIN) which came preinstalled with Windows 8. I dont like Windows 8 and want to install Windows 7. I have disabled FAST BOOT and SECURE BOOT.
My questions are.


1) On disabling Secure Boot, I found three OS Selection Modes namely, "UEFI", "CSM OS" and "UEFI or Legacy OS". Which one should I choose to install Windows 7 x64 and Why? (Really confused as in some forum they are telling to use UEFI while few other forus telling "UEFI or Legacy OS")



2) I converted the GPT to MBR once I tried to install windows 7 unknowingly but the installation failed. So if I select UEFI DVD Drive to install, will it automatically convert MBR back to GPT upon creating partitions?
Please provide the sufficient help.

Any known bugs or issues installing in "UEFI" OS Selection Mode? Which mode offer more performance? Any user experiences?

1) Downgrade to Windows 7.
Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7
Warning you must have the UEFI/BIOS firmware setting in Step Three set.


2) If Using a USB Pen drive on a PC with a UEFI BIOS.
USB Pen drive need to be formatted to FAT32 as in
UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows
Take note of Step 11 for Windows 7.
Also you will need to use a USB 2.0 port, as there are no USB 3.0 drivers in Windows 7.

Make sure drivers are available for windows 7 before you downgrade.
Check the MFTR website.

I would use legacy since the computer came with windows 8. But I do not think it matters all to much regardless.
Windows 7 did not know about the uefi bios when it came out anyway. I chose uefi when I Installed windows 7 on my custom build. But I have also done the same with legacy OS. You should be fine ether way. I have never had any issue.

YES & NO, down to your UEFI/BIOS firmware settings.

As much as I don't like the UEFI crapware it does offer the full features of your BIOS so since you're having problems with Legacy I would try installing to UEFI first and then fall back to Legacy if it can't be made to install in a reasonable time.

To do this set the BIOS to UEFI and boot the Win7 installation media as a UEFI device. Deleting all partitions during install should be sufficient to reset the formatting, but if not do the Diskpart Clean Command then add the command Convert GPT.

If this fails there may be other settings needing adjusting, including Reset to Defaults for another OS than Win8. I'd reset to Defaults either way before adjusting the CSM to UEFI.

The setting of my Toshiba Satellite L50D-B-12W permits users to choose only between UEFI or CSM boot options.
