Win7 installed in SSD, facing permission denied problems.

Hi there, sorry if you can't understand me because English is not my main language. I just purchased a SSD(Plextor PX-128M5Pro ATA Device) few days ago and I am currently using it as my main drive. I have my operating system(Windows 7 Ultimate x64) installed in the SSD and named it C: Drive.. I have another 500gb HDD connected to my pc and I am currently using it as storage to store my other files as my SDD is only 128gb. It all went well and I was satisfied with the speed of starting up my windows as the system files are all installed in the SSD. I also installed a few games(Dota2, Skyrim etc) into the SSD, everything worked fine and I was able to play my games very smoothly, however today what happened was after I restart my pc, the SSD denied me from accesing my games and I realize I do not have permission to write/modify the files that are installed in the SSD folders. I am the only user of this PC and apparently I am the only Administrator as well. I tried to change my permission on that folder(Program files x86) but I failed, the system wouldn't allow me to modify it. Right now I can't execute any games or programs I installed into my SSD. This is the error message shown when I tried to launch my Steam(Dota2).

I tried system restore, but it didn't work, did anyone else came across this problem?

Can somebody please help me as I do not have a lot knowledge on PC troubleshooting , I need a step-by-step guide to solve this problem. Your help is much appreciated

Hi zhenglah, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Above pasted error is of Steam, which is used to buy and download games. Is it possible for you to uninstall Steam and install it to some other drive? If this helps well and good. Else, you can follow the link. It gives a complete procedure on how to install Win 7 on SSD.

Hello Archer, thanks for the tutorial link you have posted. FYI the image I have posted was only 1 of the games that encounter this error, there are few more games that encounter the same problem as well.
The weird part was everything runs well before I have used it for a week, I do restart/shut down my PC every night. The problem comes after the 7th night which is yesterday.

Yes it is possible to install all my games into my HDD, I have tried and they run well, however that will mean I lost my main purpose of purchasing the SSD because I simply wanted my games to load faster, thus installing them into the SSD.

If it is possible, I wish someone could help me with this problem as I hope to install my games and run them under the SSD for a better speed.

My suggestion - start over from scratch. Remove all drives but the SSD, copy all data from SSD to your HDD and install Windows. "Access denied" is probably due to the particular account. Everything in "My Documents" on the old drive is locked to the original user account. You can, with an admin account, take possession of those items, once Windows is installed properly.

But why did the games work well for 6 days? Did you have any tasks scheduled or did you perform any? Something changed, you should do a differential diagnosis.

Did you do as Archer suggested, delete Steam and move it to your HDD? You could also disable it from startup, if that's happening.

Did you have the same copy of Windows Ultimate on your previous system disc?

Well.. that's the weirdest part I couldn't understand, I did not install/remove anything from my PC over the last 6 days. I did not set it to run from startup, this is so frustrating

Like I said, if I were to install Steam into my HDD, then there's no point for me to be using SSD, because I simply wanted my games to load faster and have less lag.

Nope it wasn't the same, the previous was Windows 7 Home premium x64 Edition.

You need Steam to 'run' the games? I thought it was just for buying and downloading? My knowledge is that it's a portal and not your needed as an integrated player platform.
