Solved CMD box flashes on and off at start up

As the title says - CMD box flashes on and off briefly at start up.
Wondered whether I had a problem and ran Malwarebytes and Windows Security Essentials and found nothing. It's a bit offputting though.
Any ideas and problem solving suggestions appreciated thank you

Try this:
Click on Start, type: msconfig, in the search box then click on msconfig.exe hat is at the top of the windows that opens. When the System Configuration Tool loads, click on the "Startup" tab, then see if " c:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe" is listed there.. If so, UNCHECK the box next to it, click on "Apply", then restart the machine.

If mitchell's suggestion doesn't turn it up, you can look through all the startup apps using AutoRuns

Sometimes cmd.exe is not explicitly called. If a command line program is run out of another app, batch or via registry, etc. it will launch a cmd window, and that window will disappear as soon as the command line program finishes.

@mitchell65: the item you mention does not appear in the sysconfig startup menu.

@MilesAhead: I downloaded the Autoruns programme and it appears that there are some entries in yellow (File not found) and others in pink. I do not have sufficient knowledge to interpret these results. PLease advise.

I saw a brief flash of text and managed to see something about AMD Accelerated graphics. The only start up entry I can see connected with this is a Microsoft one :-

cmd.exe /c start "AMD Accelerated Video Transcoding Device Initialization" /min "C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD AVT\bin\kdbsync.exe" aml

Is this the one to disable?

The flash of the .cmd screen may be caused by a program or driver that is auto started. It's not a unusual occurrence. One of my W7 boxes does and the other does not, main difference is the gpu driver.

If you want to d/l a program that monitors all the start-up processes you well be able to find it.

It sounds like you have it. It may be easier to use CCleaner Registry cleaner. See if it picks up that same "issue" of a program called that's not found and just check that box. Make sure to use several backups before messing with the registry such as Restore Point and CCleaner's own backup(it will ask you to back up and save a .reg file if you click in the affirmative.)

I have a CMD box that opens for a split-second and disappears. However, as was said before, it is a service or a program calling a command line function to start the service/program in a certain way. Disabling it will cause the service/program NOT to run! Sometimes as computers slow down (with bloat) this box becomes seen for a split-second. When the computer was leaner in its younger days this command was called, executed and gone before it even was shown on the screen. Unless you want a service/program not to start, I'd leave it alone! What I did (unintentionally) to stop seeing it was to stop certain programs from starting in the start menu. I use Tune-Up Utilities 2013 to "disable" start-up programs, but when I do want to use them, simply clicking on their icons starts them as usual. One I did that to several programs to make my boot-up time quicker, I no longer saw the command box. I can't say for sure if it was one of the programs I disabled that was calling the command or if it was just that my boot-up had become so much quicker that I no longer see the box. Either way, I wouldn't let it bother you. But if it really annoys you that much, then go ahead with anyone else's suggestions to find out exactly what service/program is calling the command.

I solved the problem by using both Autoruns and CCRegistry Cleaner as suggested by MilesAhead (Thank you!). Also now getting slightly better start up performance.
