IE11 Release Preview for Windows 7 Now Available

I just re-read your question, and to be clear, you can run the preview and still "have my regular Opera and the Opera next side by side, same for Firefox"

It'll just overwrite your current Internet explorer files, and may even set itself to default browser, but you can obviously change it back to what you want. It's just that instead of having IE9 as you IE browser, it'll be 11 instead.

Oh, and Bill, you should definitely keep IE9 if you use it for work since this is still just a preview. You could always just try it out and easily uninstall it from the "Installed Updates" screen in Windows Update. Though I'm not sure if you'd have to upgrade to IE10 first. From what I remember, last time I did a clean install of 7 there was an option to upgrade IE8 to IE10 directly, but I unchecked an update for IE8 compatibility lists and couldn't install it before installing IE9. So if it's too much of a headache for you, just keep IE9.

As I luckily don't have any glaring issues with IE11 right I'll personally keep it, otherwise I'd probably go back to IE9 as well.

The thing now is that since Microsoft started this "sped up" (so to speak) release cycle of IE, I imagine that more websites will support an older version only when the next one is released xD
So IE9 should be 100% badass now - sometimes I even think about going back to it just because the tags length bug keeps annoying me to no end since IE10.

Using it on win 8. Might be a tad faster; I did notice some strange behavior on outlook.com, but it is mostly gone now. Mostly just seems like IE10... and IE9 even.

I'm not sure if it's possible to skip versions when upgrading IE.
Back in Vista I think I remember being able to upgrade IE7 to IE9 directly, but for Windows 7 I'm not sure.
Might give it a test tonight at work or something, see if downgrading to IE9 then installing IE11 does the trick (because previously I've been upgrading IE8 to IE10 via Windows Update and just installed IE9 in the middle anyway).

Installed IE11 and my gadgets disappeared and the gadgets application would no longer run so restored back to IE10.

Seems that people who install IE 11 RP have different glitches where gadgets don't work in Jeffro's case while mine works fine and Flash player (only on Yahoo websites so far) doesn't work without the User Agent switch to IE 10 in my case. For some people, they have no issues at all. I guess that's just what happens when the OS and IE has to support countless configurations. I'm hoping Microsoft found and fix most of the bugs in their RTM since IE is my favorite browser out of all. I can still live with IE 11 RP right now unlike IE 11 DP where it was literally unusable since bugs were everywhere.

Or you could just create a restore point, which is what I did in case something strange happened. Which didn't.

Bottom line is IE11 is fast, and thus far I haven't noticed any issues.

A restore point won't help if something happens to keep you from booting into Windows, even in safe mode. An image, however, can be used to restore your computer to the state it was in when the image was made, no matter how bad Windows may get corrupted. I've found system restore to be unreliable while I've never been unable restore an image.

it has faster loading then silverlight.

yeah but microsoft made a deal with netflix that they can use html5 with drm protection in internetexplorer 11 with windows 8.1.

but it doesnt look like the option will be there for windows 7.

It will apply for the browser then, IE11 was originally intended with Windows 8.1, it will be released with Windows 8.1, however, has now been available for Windows 7.

I'm not crazy about the Developer tools pic Brink posted looks like a win-8 display/ touch screen friendly mess.
Right now I can have F12 open and it's barely there no more than the old Status bar and I can switch browser mode and Document mode without taking up the entire front page.
ie10 is fine and dandy and my only installed browser.

Some people think upgrading to a beta product will improve prior issues from another version,
Upgrading Never improves prior issues it just amplifies it,
Because now they have further complicated the upgrading process by putting the beta product in the way so when the final release is issued now you have a beta possible conflict,

The rest are just curious which in the end eats the cat
But it's no surprise to me personally that ie11 will be more touch screen friendly/ Larger icons.... which I'm not interested in.

That said, if it's clearly because it's a preview release, as some have noted, that's understandable. But for some of us trying it out, it's fairly impressive thus far.

It's easy to listen to the FUD, it's another thing to see for yourself

Reasons I don't bother with betas is because the final product is rarely the same and I'm content to wait until any bugs have been worked out. I'm not against progress or change but will adopt only when it actually benefits me.
