My experience with G Skill ram has been very favorable. I would look to a faster set of G Skill ram modules with at least 1866-2400 mhz they won't cost much more and XMP will dial them in without any fuss ! I would also go with 2 x 4gb modules as this way if you want or need later to grow to 16gb ram you can just order another matched pair.

It is best to look at the G.Skill RAM Configurator site. Maybe the old Ram will be compatible but it doesn't appear to be listed for your new motherboard.

I'd wager that it may not have been tested due to age. Not surprising considering how many models G.Skill has.

I'd recommend a RAM upgrade to go with the CPU and board. These are tested for the Z87-A.
Sniper - F3-2133C10D-16GSR - G.SKILL DDR3 Memory
You will have much better performance. I have 3 sets of Sniper and it works very well.
As long as I can use the RAM I have now when the motherboard arrives, that's all I'm concerned about cause I'll only need to use it for 2 -4 weeks tops. I'll be sure and check out your suggested link. Thanks! :)

Providing that the motherboard has the correct sockets for the type of RAM that you are intending to use (and in the case of the newer boards this will be DDR3), then the memory should work, providing that you are not exceeding the maximum capacity for the board. Given the many RAM modules available, even from just one manufacturer, it is really just a case of the motherboard manufacturer not having the time/resources to test every single module available. In most cases, this shouldn't cause any problems.

As a postscript, I purchased some G.Skill Ram that was "Z77" compatible (2x4GB) and the supplier was adamant it should be fine yet the 2nd stick was not recognized. Luckily the supplier was local and convinced himself it wasn't compatible with the ASRock Z77M and replaced the Ram.
My recommendation: If buying mail order buy Ram tested for your motherboard.

I just had a set of two stick and one proved bad, it happens. GSkill does its own exhaustive testing and provides a list of boards it is guaranteed to work with.
