Solved BSOD driver_power_state_failure on HP pavilion dv6

Hi,

Occurs when trying to sleep or hibernate , it doesn't occur always but occurs regularly.
OS Win7.1 x64.

Another thing is that I cannot hibernate while plugged in (picture attached)
SF diagnose also attached.

Hi Rpz79.

You need to update the driver for your Intel® WiFi Link 100. Download and install Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows 7.

If still the issue persists, uninstall cFosSpeed Accelerator.

I am not sure. As far as it is a BSOD, I can guide you in the proper way. For the sleep related issue that you posted, that may be caused by many a things.

We have to look at that, after things are stable.

Attached herewith is a second crash report after I've updated my Intel wireless drivers but NOT uninstalled CfosSpeed - It's transparent network usage graph is very useful , are you sure 100% that's the culprit ?

I'm having screen crashes from my AMD driver could it be the villain ?

I've managed to solve the hibernation problem by pressing the power button while plugged in.

The SF diagnostic tool is not silent , I need to press OK after every data set collection it does.

You cannot expect 100% surety in remote assistance.

A stop 0x9F is sleep/hibernation related. A PnP device driver fails the power state between the sleep-wake-up power transition ...... it fails to change the power state as with the computer.

In your case, it is the WiFi network driver that is failing the power state. Upto this point, I can say it with 100% surety.

When network driver is malfunctioning, the primary duty becomes to update it. It is rightly updated. If that is not enough, the next obvious step is to reduce load from it. That is what I suggested you.

Hope it is understandable to you.

Either follow the steps, or accept the ongoing BSODs. No other option is there, and no "fix" button.

EDIT: What you are having from your AMD drivers is all possible. The driver is extremely old. But that has no connection with Driver Power State Failure at all.

Hi,

What do you mean by taking load of the driver ? how do Cfos loads the driver ?
I'll first downgrade Cfos to the latest stable release , If that won't help I'll try uninstalling it.

BTW do you know why can't I hibernate while plugged in using Windows (software) dialog instead of pressing the power button ?

Hello Rpz79,

Not sure about the hibernate issue either, but double check in Device Manager for your WiFi device to see if it's set to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" like below.

Hi Arc,

Unfortunately it's probably ain't CfosSpeed after I've unistalled it , the laptop had several sleeps and couple of hibes but on the 3rd hibe or so it crashed.
Again I hibed with H/W interrupt (Power) button.

I'm suspecting kaspersky internet security but I don't want to uninstall it till I'm not certain.

Why I cannot change to "advanced settings->sleep->allow hybrid sleep->plugged in->off" on ANY power plan ? (I do have admin rights...)

I think you should go for at least a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html, though a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html is a better option.

As there are no more BSODs, it continues the previous the status to me. We have noticed that program causes sleep related issues a few more times.

Upgrade installation solved the issue. CfosSpeed had nothing to do with it.
Still I cannot change to shut hybrid sleep while plugged in, thus cannot hibernate using "software commands" while plugged in.
