I don't believe that anybody wants Microsoft to stop looking into new technology. Microsoft should reach out and grab as much of this new Tablet, Cell Phone market.
The problem I'm seeing is Microsoft seem to think if it works great on a Tablet and Cell Phone they should also make us use it on a PC and Laptop.
Ford Motor Company make trucks and car. Then they let the customer choose which one to buy.

Steve Ballmer may be stepping down as CEO of Microsoft, but he's not planning to let go of the reins in Redmond completely, if a recent filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission is any indication.
In Microsoft's 2013 proxy statement, filed with the SEC on Thursday, the company's board of directors gave its recommendations to shareholders of who should be elected to the board this time around, and the list of names included both Ballmer and current chairman Bill Gates.



That's sure to annoy some big shareholders, a few of which have reportedly been lobbying to have Gates bumped from the chairman's seat.
Among those malcontents' gripes is said to be that Gates will have too great a role in selecting Ballmer's successor, which could mean Microsoft ends up with a new chief exec who thinks and acts too much like the old one.

Microsoft's board of directors is working to have Ballmer's successor in place by the end of this year, according to a Bloomberg report that cited unidentified people with knowledge of the discussions. The timetable for announcing a new Microsoft chief executive hinges on negotiations over compensation and departure from the current employer if the selection comes from outside the company, the sources said.

Steve Ballmer has been Microsoft’s CEO for more than a decade but it looks like a sizable chunk of his workforce won’t be sad to see him go next year. The Washington Post has put together a list of CEOs at major American companies based on their approval ratings at Glassdoor.com and has found that Ballmer has just a 47% approval rating, lower than every major tech CEO and lower even than Wal-Mart CEO Mike Duke, whose company is notorious for paying its workers no more than it absolutely has to.
