I`m already working on a folder of websites I can go to for help, but from the reviews and videos I`ve seen so far, it looks so easy to work with

It will likely be like a new language in BIOS after using MSI, but it is a great board. You can bug any of us.

I think I can speak for most of us on the top spots Solar when I say that we use software when in Windows to go for the heavy OC's, I use Asus Turbo V evo, I could never have got my OC validated booting into Windows.

This is the secret, I can't boot mine with BIOS-set OC of more than 4700, sometimes 4800.

I can roll with 5.1GHz from the bios, but any more it needs to be done inside windows.

That is what I am seeing Paul in the bios I am stuck at 5.2 so a tuning program is needed to go further aww nuts

Intel Extreme tuning works on all Intels. He should use the Asus software first, will get amazing results I'm sure

Turn off Hyperthreading

I will try the Software soon just sad I can't push it a little more over 13mhz and still won't boot I guess the Blck is really hard on a system doesn't like me right now

I've heard that helps when going over 5, but I think Steve did it with hyperthreading on

Tommy, I've been up and down with and without HT and it doesn't seem to help nor hinder. I've now tried it but maybe running just 1 or 2 cores may help.

Gary, for me with a MSI Board I have to set enable OC in OS in the BIOS, and then (with XTU) I can see multipliers and turbo voltage. I can set different setting in the multipliers( and view clock speeds with blck etc) but it does not work when I hit apply. With MSI, only their software will change the multipliers, but the voltage from the XTU does work.

How do you set it for just one or two cores? I heard doing that can produce a higher oc, but I don't know how to do that.


Edit: I just looked in the Bios, it is enable cpu multiplier in os, then XTU works

Mine seems to hang when I induce more then 5ghz so when I turn it off it stops and I am able to validate

I guess it's one of those oddities

Doug, I don't have "enable OC" in BIOS, it's Auto, XMP, to Manual and I use Manual. ASUS, at least, has an option for how many cored to be active in their BIOS. The Turbo EVO comes with all ASUS boards as far as I know, and I've used several of them the past few weeks, it does work well.

I'm going to try a Sabertooth Z87 soon....:huh:

No cheating turning HT and cores off...

I could very easily do that myself, but who wants to be "that guy?" I got my 6 core/12 thread CPU for a reason. (To use it.)

Maybe we should base the leaderboard on clock rate × threads...
