Desktop icons not equal on left of screen compared to right of screen

My desktop settings are as such:
View --> Small icons, align icons to grid, show desktop icons
I have 2 rows of icons (shortcuts and stuff) on the left
and 2 rows of icons on the right.
The ones on the left are perfect, the ones closest to the edge, have about 1/4 inch of space to the edge of the screen
However, the ones on the right have about an inch and I can't place them closer unless I do all manually, which I don't want to do since they will all be crooked, not does the option seem to exist.
I would like the right side to 'kiss' the edge as they do on the left. Is this possible or not? If not, why pls? Thank you

pintree go to the desktop > right click anywhere on the screen > View > untick Align icons to grid

It does take some positioning though I don't think the OS will put it exactly on the right edge you will have to do it manually.

Thanks ICit2lol. What you said, well..., When I wrote, "... unless I do all manually, which I don't want to do since they will all be crooked" that is what I meant. In other words, most icons come and go on my desktop and get moved around. If I do as u suggested they are not aligned, and they take too much work to do so. I don't want to spend time on such a thing every time I move or delete an icon and then when re-organizing them have to manually align them--that is too time-consuming. To me, somewhere in the registry is probably where I would need to go. You know when in Microsoft Word, you can align the margins of a doc, well I think somewhere Windows or the video card, is doing this exact thing except chose not to make them equal on both sides. Would the "icon spacing" settings mentioned in this MS article help? If you raise or lower the horizontal setting, that might do what you want. Might take a bit of trial-and-error though.

Can you post a screenshot of your desktop? You should be able to adjust the screen size and position through Catalyst Control Center. It's possible you have a small amount of overscan.

Many of us got fed up with all the desktop icon issues. I don't have any icons on my desktop except something temporary I'm working on(like if I drag a shortcut from a browser or something.) Instead I use RocketDock with categorized folders of icons. For example a folder might be Editors and inside will be text and graphics editors and word processor apps. Another may be Internet etc..

It helps too because RocketDock or a similar program acts the same way on different Windows flavors. You don't have to stop and think which Windows you're on if you have several machines running different versions.

The easy way out may be a desktop icon position utility. There are a bunch of them around for free.
Check the large freeware download sites like Softpedia,SnapFiles, zdnet,sourceforge.net etc..

Look mate it sounds like you have an awful lot of icons to do can I ask why? cos most of my frequently used stuff I keep on the taskbar. I only ever keep temp stuff on the desktop.

Other stuff you can add to is the Start menu and even the listing to the right of it. You need to know that icons on the screen are eating into the RAM and your start up time too. Is it worth this hassle?

Most of the shortcuts on my desktop are for files being worked on now, doc and pdf files, folders and etc. I also have my drives on it since I go to them often and don't like the 3 steps necessary to do so via the start menu. On my desktop is the software I use often, Photoshop, browsers, MediaMonkey etc. But you you did make a good point. I never had considered placing other stuff there as well. Folders are not a good idea since these shortcuts are sometimes used with "Save As/In" and Explorer would not show them in such a case but others may be put there as well. Thanks fr the idea. Nevertheless, there are still enough of them 25 + on the left and 16 on the right to want me to fix this as originally asked.
