hi.

I am having an issue with my current laptop (ASUS k46CB). I was trying to install Win 7 64 bit in UEFI mode but as it was loading windows flag, it just hang for indefinite period.

I was able to install using legacy mode but that does not help as I need to get my Win 7 installed in GPT partition.

Can anyone share some light on this issue ?

there was another thread opened but somehow I did not see any answers to my problem.

Are you booting the DVD in UEFI mode?

Try burning a fresh copy of the latest official installer ISO to new good-quality DVD from Steps 1 and 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If that fails try flash stick installer: UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows

You can also consider the solution which has always worked for those having UEFI problems: to Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7

I dont think DVD is the problem as i was able to install it via legacy mode.

I will try to install using USB and see if this works.

i actually need windows in GPT partition because i will need to boot it with fedora 19.

But have you tried to Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7 with Legacy BIOS?

This has worked in all cases so far where UEFI has presented problems.

Hi Greg,
right now i am using win 7 with legacy Bios. the prob right now is, my partition are in MBR. For newer Fedora 19, it requires GPT partition.

So unless i can get Fedora 19 (yes, i need this particular version) to work in MBR, i am unable to install it. It requires GPT Partition.

So i was wondering if we can somehow install win 7 in GPT without the issue that i first describe.

I have tried in USB (UEFI) and it does not work, same issue.

Hope if someone has face this similar issue, could be a help for my problem :)
