Solved BSOD when rebooting with a USB connected, 0x000000c5

Lately whenever i connect my android phone to the computer i get a BSOD. Asmedia USB3 Host controller seemed to be the culprit. Yesterday I formatted the computer and disabled USB3 in BIOS. I'm not using the USB3 Ports at all. Today i received a BSOD when i rebooted the computer while an USB stick was connected.

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning

Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

• If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
• If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Plus, Uninstall Virtual VloneDrive. The SCSI adapter (vclone.sys) installed by such a program may cause any type of system instability.

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

1. Click on the Start button
2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
3. Select the “Startup” tab.
4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
5. Apply > OK
6. Accept then restart.

I ran the Verifier and selected ntoskrnl.exe. I received a BSoD after restarting and was stuck in a boot loop.

The ScpVBus.sys is a driver to make a PS3 Controller work with the computer. I uninstalled that and restarted with the Verifier and the BSoD didnt occur.

Is there any good alternative to Virtual CloneDrive/Daemon tools? As sometimes I need to mount an image to install.

Not a good job. Nothing that is provided by microsoft is not to select.

No good alternative. All are equally problematic. You use 7-zip; or Winrar. Those programs can extract any disc image, and so are able to do the job similarly.

No BSoD but i got a pop up "Windows Explorer has stopped working" This has happened before and this time it happened on a newly installed OS. Does seem to happen randomly. Not sure if it's any of the Context Menu Handler?

Do you know the source of inject.dll? If so, uninstall that program.

Scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs.

• Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
• Windows Defender Offline
• Malwarebytes Free anti-malware

I downloaded the Registry fix and if it happens again I'll upload the dump file.

Dont do it.

If needed, go for another clean reinstall after scanning with TDSSKiller, but not use any registry fix downloaded from internet.

OH! That is OK.

The fixes available form various sites are not trustworthy. Specially the sites providing online registry scanners etc.

I ran TDSSKiller and no errors showed up. I also found the source of inject.dll so I uninstalled that program. I guess all there is left is to use the computer for a few days and see if it's allright.

Also don't have any virtual drive program installed as 7zip does the job.
