Funny about that. When I go to the Stooge-gle home page here this is what I see without any navigation bars.

Of course since it was last seen with IE 8 you no longer have any search provider options as far as a search text box unlike what you see in FireFox, WaterFox, and other browsers. Search from the address bar? No thanks! MS I simply added a Bing home page to the Favorites bar and called it a day.

As for WaterFox that has the same options as FF simple being the 64bit variant of same there. If I can't find it on Bing which is usually rare then Ask.com or one other search engine comes next but never Stooge-gle of Scroogle!

The ratings for search engines by the way are based on market shares over practicality and effectiveness. Google ranked #1, Yahoo #2 mostly commercial however, Bing comes in 3rd place followed by Ask. Teoma, Duck Duck Go(sure that thrills some), EntireWeb, Blekko, Srub The Web,, and GigaBlast make up the Top 10 list.

All these posts about Google reminded me.
Has Yahoo eliminated picture galleries?

Recently, when I search for pictures on Yahoo I no longer get an image gallery results page.
I still get one if I use Google (I don't use Bing at all).

This happens using Pale Moon (v24.0.2) and IE10.
Can people see an image gallery (searching for images with Yahoo) using IE11?

What I have been running into for the last few years is separate engines for images and photos. In fact the link I posted earlier includes a list of the top 10 picture type search engines.

Typically you won't find a set date for release too soon after a beta or preview version has been seen. The best way to know is to follow the IEBlog Team posts at MSDN. MSDN Blogs > IEBlog

Since the preview came out just last month you can expect it will take a few more likely in early 2014 typically in February if not on January 31 when various updates, service packs, beta versions, etc. appear for different things.

After 4yrs. since the first retail builds for 7 were seen in stores SP2 hasn't been heard about as of yet showing things will vary for anything MS. With the Win 8.1 version of 11 already included in 8.1 you may even see the Vista/7 version before the end of the year. The blog team there will announce just when that will be.

Then why was the Update blocker released about two weeks ago? Usually, that's released if they're about to release the final version...and, this version was referred to as Release Preview.

The update blocker is something totally new for IE and something they wanted people to see before the final version was ready to try out on the previews. Something separate like that doesn't necessarily dictate when the finished IE is ready but simply comes out as an extra whether before or after the finished version is out.

To know when the last few versions of IE 8 for Vista, IE 9 Vista, 7 were actually going to be available before it was announced at PC World or some other blog site you simply followed the IE developer team blog. That will be updated before anything else as a rule. Another source to pay attention to is seen on the Exploring IE page where regular IE blogs are listed at the Windows site. Exploring IE

That's funny...I remember an update blocker being released back in February, right before the release of IE10. So it's not "totally new," unless you meant totally new as of IE 10.

I had a chance to explore the final version of IE11 on Win8.1 and it's amazing - for IE.
It still struggles when loading humongous pages continuously; I had a lot of trouble going far back down my Facebook timeline and looking at hundreds of search results on flickr - the browser would randomly freeze and just when I think I'd have to kill it via Task Manager it's back up for ten seconds before it does it again.

And I absolutely hate the fact IE forced me to use the HTML5 player on Youtube with any clips that don't have ads, even on the desktop version :/

It's a shame I couldn't play around with it more because my Intel HD drivers for Windows 8.1 are, apparently, inapplicable for my laptop (even though they were designed for my specific model) and it had a tendency to run hot when using nVidia's GPU - long story short, I had tons of graphical glitches in IE11 which I couldn't solve because of the Intel HD drivers (I had to use 8 drivers instead of 8.1)...


I can't wait to get it on Windows 7, I thought it would be out already, if not at 8.1 launch

I don't recall them having one for IE 9 however which would have been good when going to clean install 7 a few years back and not wanting 9 but keeping 8 on instead.

For blocking the next or newer version of IE often you can spot and simply uncheck that from the lilst of updates when checking manually. You just have to spot the one for any newer version of IE regardless of which one you have on. But that when manually checking not having automatic updates set.

Scary yes but a fact of life cost cutting in government depts now I think is getting beyond a joke . They want a premium service but at Bi-Lo prices.

The blocker for 11 would be totally new. MS has had blocker kits going back to IE 7. For each newer version of IE you see a newer version of the IE blocker kit. But that has always been made available during the beta period of each version prior to the final release.

The point I was making was that doesn't determine just when each newer version's final release becomes available and why following the IE Blog team's blogs is the best way to learn just when 11 will become available for 7. Typically you see the announcement there first.
