Solved Problem with the screen saver and wallpaper

Hello,

I bought a Acer netbook with Win 7 starter and then upgrade to Home Premium. Problem is I can not get the screen saver to work. Plus I can't change the wallpaper...

Before the upgrade there was a program on the netbook called Oceanis. I removed the program Oceanis.

After the upgrade I reinstalled Oceanis with no luck...

Hello Rickers, and welcome to Seven Forums.

In Windows 7 Home Premium, you do not need to install the Oceanis program. It's only for Windows 7 Starter and Home Basic editions instead.

Home Premium comes with the personalization feature included.

Thanks... I removed Oceanis then did a reboot.

I still cannot activate the screen saver and can not change the desktop background....


I am not sure what could be disabling theses two options..??

Are you sure that you have Home Premium and not Home Basic installed?

At the beginning of boot up it displays Windows 7 Home Premium...Plus the MS upgrade box is Win 7 Home Premium...

Maybe I should try to reinstall the upgrade...???

Before trying that, see if the system file checker can find and fix any corruption,

A product key is your license. It would be either a full or upgrade key.

In Home Premium they are suppose to since those features are included.

It may be some issue with upgrading. You might consider doing a clean install instead.

I fixed the problem while searching the web All Day for a fix!

Came across a web site with suggestions and one was to create a New Administrator account!!

Talk about lucky.... The New account with Win 7 Home Premium works like a charm....


My next question is I should be able to delete the old Administrator account without any problems??

Great news.

Yes, you should be able to delete the old account while logged in to your new one.

Be sure to copy over any files (ex: music, documents, etc..) you may want from the old account to the new one before you delete it though.
