hello frist i would like to say hi.

3.0 4 cores
12 gigs ram ddr 3
ati 9900 2 gig videocard
1 tb hdd 12% full
350gig hdd 32% full
500gig hdd 5% full

my system just started doing this after a update from windows i beleve.
anyways my system has always started up kinda slow but after it starts it run grate all day long.
i run a wamp server on it for my website.

when i let it run overnight an i wakeup its laggy an wont open programs like firefox or staskman.
so i click restart an it goes throw loging out fine. then it just stays at the shuting down screen with the blue cusor spenning. the other day it took 3hrs for it to shutdown.

but when i get it started back up an every thing loads up an i click shutdown it works fine. but if i run it all night it will repeat above.

it use to shutdown fine about aweek ago.

i was going to do a repair but i cant find my win 7 disk for the desktop. i do have my win 7 disk for my laptop but they are not the same.

i tryed stoping startup programs and doing a full sys scan with av an it still did it.

i have tryed in safe mode an it shuts down fine

Have you tried using a System Restore which was created prior to the problem?

I don't see anything really bad in there (that would affect a long startup/shutdown time).

Although I would personally uninstall java, and delete from startup itunes related items. I would also delete pdf complete from startup as well.

Does your pc ever go to sleep? When it does, and you wake it back up, does it take forever?

You could try looking into event viewer during the shut down process and see what is going on.

Do you always close all programs until at your desktop, and then click shut down? Or do you shut down with programs open?

I know very little about a web server running 24/7 but some things look strange to me.
Running Avast and Webroot at the same time to the best of my knowledge is a no no. One anti virus installed and running on one computer at a time.

Daemon tools and Itunes I also don't understand for a 24/7 Web Server. Both of these have caused many people problems for a long time.

As I have proven by my questions I really don't know much about Web Servers running 24/7.

Microsoft LifeCam has got me confused also.

I'm really not all these things need to starting up at boot. There for Windows 7 won't have to shut them down when you do turn off your computer.
I only have my Security Programs start at boot in msconfig, Startup. Other things start on my or Windows 7 request when needed.
I'm also not running a 24/7 Web Server; is that the difference?

Understanding these thing will be a learning experience for me. I hope you don't mind.

Oddly enough I usually leave my computer on all nite also as I usually just lock my comp when I'm not using it but it's probably a good idea I know to give it a rest every so often to give the components a break.
