Hello SevenForums community,

After hours of researching through Google, I could not find a solution for my constant problem that has been happening for the past month and so. Every night, this error would pop up while I'm watching a video, editing a video, on Skype, etc. I have updated all of my drivers (or, at least that what Windows and Gateway say), and rebooting several times. Can someone help me with this problem?

Can you post any relevant event logs so we can see any relevant error messages?. It appears from researching it via google; that it is pointing to one or more programs; and im thinking its one that did not originally come with windows and that would be skype. So; try uninstalling skype completely, rebooting, reinstalling it and report back and we can go from there if the issue is not solved.

Welcome to Sevenforums,

Looks it is an application that's relies on some COM+ components that need to be registered in the Microsoft Component Services (COM+).

You can have a look in Control panel => Administrative tools => Component Services.

See there if some applications have to be registred, it will normally be automatically recognized once you open the Component Services .

Try to located the errors in Events Viewer, any related to skype or ole32.dll.

Have you try what forum member matts6887 was suggesting about reinstall Skype?

Could be also corrupted ole32.dll. Try to SFC /SCANNOW at startup.

Skype was not the culprit, error still showed up when Skype was uninstalled.
Just tried the scan command, Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

So guess that's the ole32.dll that could need to be updated.

Which version have you got in folder C:\Windows\System32...(right-click properties on ole32.dll)?

Mine is: v6.1.7601.21982 dated: April 28, 2012

Have you any of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages installed ? Could be that also!

Check in the Control Panel => Programs & Features.

If NO, try to install them with the link above.

Should be fine with the 2010 DLL (Windows 7 SP1 ole32.dll).

I found a partial answer with ole32.dll and the Visual C++ Redistributable package not installed or not updated making the access violation on that DLL.

Did you check if that was the case in your "Programs & Features"?

If so update them as per links provided. You could update both x86 & x64 Packages.

Yes do it..pick up both x86 & x64 packages.

After installed 2010 & 2012 VC++Packs, you might have to quick check with Windows Update if there's newer versions.

If you bump again to the access violation i'll give you the link to update the ole32.dll so we'll see if it works.... But as for now, try with those VC++.

Take this package also: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition

If you already have installed SQL server 2005 compact edition v3.1, you don't need it, otherwise yes.

2008 versions are coming along some applications and games and most of them have their own Ed 2008 as developers took the one they needed at the time, and you can let those versions. They do not take that much disk space. Also no need to unsinstall the other versions 2005.

That could be a version added by a backdoor trojan and may not be executing from a Windows folder. I would run a virus scan and a MBAM scan.

An x64 system will have one in SysWOW64 also. (Besides the mirror folders.) It may not show up in a search if the file is hidden/system.

Forgot to mention: That message is indeed caused by a program but not necessarily OLE32. If Windows encounters an access violation, it BSODs. That could be a program attempting to pass parameters or data to another program.

Those are the VC++ versions on my system. You should do fine either.

For that time i'm off to bed. ;)

Take carwiz advice aswell if you want to check for a virus scan.

Ah okay. Also, should I uninstall the other versions? Why are there so many 2008 versions?

No news from you? Seems you solved the issue...:)
