Hey guys my sisters laptop is now killing itself it seems. It wont boot up, what happens is it goes to Acer post (which is just acer logo with the sentence press F2 to go to setup) and then it just resets, it continuously does this. I thought it might be a battery problem but that does not seem to be the case as it does the same thing without the battery and just plugged into the power. I cant seem to get enough time to even get into the setup or try to get into safemode as it resets before it lets me do anything. When i took a look at the fan it doesnt seem to be moving or i cant make it out that it is so im thinking it could be overheating because the fan isnt moving at all but i dont think a laptop can overheat that fast.

Any suggestions?

Actually laptops overheat quicker......I would say the laptop is definitely shutting itself off to prevent heat damage. Can you troubleshoot the fan?

The only possible way is to see if the fans turning, otherwise i cant laptop shuts itself off too quick, taking it to my dads tomorrow cos i dont have current tools to open laptop, but yeah im thinking its the fan, people keep saying its corrupted hardd rive when i looked it up though but i dont think thats it, its been working fine all day

No. Its a small battery (like a watch battery) that powers the CMOS (BIOS) on the motherboard itself.....when they go wrong, strange things happen at the BIOS level.

unfortunately it seems we were wrong, it seems to be a hard drive problem and we cant even access it with a dock, it comes up as removeable disk that needs to be reformated.

No i haven't had it reformatted yet, still trying to find ways to recover if possible but if a dock can't do it i dont think anything can.
