SF Benchmarking rules and general discussion.

So, that was a long way of saying.... I'm not sure. So, what's the rule? SLI/CFX or not use it? Either way, I'm OK with it just tell me, master of the leaderboard.

I don't know, I need to sink a beer, spin a bottle, flip a coin (best of 3) and roll around in some stinging nettles before I can give you a decision.

I think Bottom line if it is giving bad/false results like they are saying at 3D Mark then we can't use it.

How about we use it but only for testing purposes ,We can pretty much get an idea of how good it runs no use in making a leader board for it

For right now i think using it as a test tool is a better way to go test it out see what it can do for your gpu and increase by a bit because not everyone has this feature so given some thought it still would be an iffy thing because not everyone will be able to use this feature

Testing and showing results should be cool simply because we really can't pin point if the HD is really helping out or the program is Mirroring the GPU

So just keep it for testing the majority will be left behind because this is a paid feature that comes with premium boards anyway and not everyone is on that premium type budgets

Lucid or not Lucid has never stopped you before, why start now.

EDIT: But, I would suggest flipping a coin to make a decision. Having a few beers can lead to bad decisions. I know that for a fact, I've made my share in the past.

i think we should keep everything that we have. forget the lucid thing. i can do it with my mobo, and its not THAT high end of a mobo, but why would i do it? i have a better card. i can see it actuallu giving worse performance.... ive never tried it, but i dont think its worth it. its basically like me buying 4 titans and having the highest score out of everyone. but, what does that prove? it dosent prove anything even considering that is WAY out of the question for everyone else, and does not relate to real world applications.

i say lets keep what we have. 2 categories. single and SLI/XFire. bios flashing should be allowed however we should include on the table if the cards are being air or water cooled.

we dont NEED this to be just a pure competition. it could also be a place to where if someone wants to know what GPU they should buy, they have an idea on what they can do to achieve the score others are getting with the same card, or even see what performance they can expect, how high their clocks can get around, etc.

so on the chart, we should add 3 more specs per card.

1 core clock speed
2 memory speed
3 air or water cooled

OK let me just go update them, back in 6 months :roflmao:

Although that is a nice idea Noober, it would be one of the toughest administration jobs ever. I really don't like the thought of it. The biggest issue is not adding it to new scores (that would still be a pain in the ass) but trying to get all that information for all the current scores.

Edit: Actually #3 would be easy, everyone on the leaderboards is air cooled.

I really don't like it either. If you are doing it and adding those things, why not add are you using a modded bios, are you using a rogue voltage tool, or maybe a Bot. The list would be never ending.

CPU speed?, CPU watercooled?, Ram speed?, Ram timings?. These also play a part in most of the benchmarks.

You could have a spreadsheet so long it would take 10 mins just to add 1 entry :zip:

i mean it dosent have to be exact. to the nearest 10th mhz. and ya i figured add #3 cause with these liquid GPU coolers coming out i can see a lot of ppl buying them

Well why didn't you say so in the first place! Off to update them now, back in 5 Months

:roflmao: Lol sorry mate, it's just it would be such a task it's unreal, I have like 12 Leaderboards for here in my favs, to do that with even 1 of them would take hours. Now if someone was paying me by the hour then I would consider it lol.

OK so moving on...

Next topic of discussion, Guys with 2 cards being allowed to disable a card and have a shot at the single card leaderboard.

I am absolutely happy for this to be allowed, and for the person to be allowed an entry on both the single card and SLI/Xfire leaderboard. I think it is 100% fair and also fun for the 2 card people to see if they have what it takes to beat single ones.

I believe I have already done it once before for a member Niklu so it's only fair everyone can, if not I will remove his score.

Paul.
