Can someone suggest cool uses for old desktop computer

Hello. I have an old Compaq Presario desktop with Win XP still on it.I was wanting to put it to use in some way.Any ideas.Thanks.

I have an old PC with a couple TB HDD's in it connected to my TV, it has movies & TV series stored on them to play when there is nothing worth watching on TV.

We call it our Media Centre.

You could set it up as a file server, with shares. That would be pretty easy and very good usefulness. You could install some big drives and make an automated backup machine.

Target for pistol or rifle practice
Trade for a 12" pizza
Cat litter box (after removing all the guts)
Receptacle for a Bean Bag toss game (also after removing all the guts)
Single use Frisbe

Put it on the curb and put a for sale price on it.
Somebody will drive by and pick it up without paying.
I get rid of lots of hard to dispose items this way.

One time I put 4 tires on the curb tied to a tree.
Price tag was $25.00.
Pickup stopped and a man jumped out cut the rope and took the tires in about a minute. That saved me the head ache and money for disposal.

stick it in your shed/workshop i have 2 pc's in mine, ones an old Pentium 4 based dell, which i use as a server, the other i built as a media pc so i can watch blu rays when im working on my road bike

Aside from the frivolous comments, I would keep it online, if possible, till XP support dies on Apr 14th to get the last updates.

It then can be used as a machine for kids to learn on, write Word docs, play games, etc. You could also install w7 and keep it alive for several years.

That's a good idea. Mint Mate or Zorin will not discombobulate you. Here are instructions how to setup Mint Mate. Skip the VMware Player part. You can install it natively.
