I exported the whole registry hive from another computer to a .reg file. Is there a software (ran on another computer) that can open this file similar to how it is viewer in regedit?

Please help. Thanks.

Hi Kevin,

Try this Registry reader

I tried but when I open the .reg file I have it says "file not supported". Did you personally try using this software?

Remember, that software is for registry HIVES not registry files (exported directly from regedit). What I have is a registry file.

I am not sure of the software. But,

You can open another "hive" with regedit.

Start regedit.
Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE root key.
Go to the menu "File->Load Hive..."
Choose the DAT file for the registry you wish to edit.
You will be prompted for a name to load the hive into. The name does not matter. It just loads the registry hive into a subfolder using the name you provide.
You can then edit the registry you just loaded in the same manner as any other registry. All changes are made in real time, just as normal.
When you're done, go to the menu "File->Unload Hive..."

But I'm analyzing a registry file and not a hive only?
