Recently reformatted computer and NVIDIA card does not show

Hi there,

So my computer crashed recently, so I went to a store, and paid them to reformat my computer. They reinstalled windows 7 for me, but now my NVIDIA graphics card is no where to be found. It doesn't show under the device manager or anything. I have been trying to google as to how to fix this but I am not quite computer literate, and I haven't found anything either.

Dave, welcome to the Seven Forums.

First thing would be to go to the download page for your laptop and get the chipset and video/graphics drivers, as there is a good chance that the shop didn't install them.

I had thought that as well, so when I typed in the product and the drivers, there was this driver, there was 2 others as well for the 64 bit, but this one was the most recent, so I had downloaded them

they opened in WINZIP and I extracted all, but nothing has happened, there is a ton of folders where it was extracted but nothing opens

Before going to the link below, could you take a screenshot of the folders? The instructions in the link only work with actual driver files.

Have you run all rounds of windows update ? The video driver should show up.

Or just go to nvidia.com to get it.

Being that it is a laptop, wouldn't it be better to go to the OEM site to get the video driver? Nvidia.com may not have the correct driver.

Extracting the ZIP won't make the install run. That usually only happens when its a self extracting zip file. Look in the root folder for a setup.exe file. If there is an autorun.ini you can open that in notepad and it will list the file to be run.
