Is there a utility for windows 7 that will prevent a Flash reader from installing. Recently, just for kicks, when a site DEMANDED that I install Adobe Flash I clicked for it to go ahead and install it. Interestingly, the installation failed. With that curiosity in mind I have tried it repeatedly over a period of weeks since then and, as always, it fails the installation.

No, I can't drop a puzzle like that. It's like an itch I have to scratch. And somewhere along the road it occurred to me that I may have installed a Flash block of some kind and just forgot about it, since it hasn't exactly been on my list of favorite software.

Interestingly, some outfits are getting away from Flash - using HTML5 or MP4 - while some are firing up to make Flash their centerpiece. ABC has apparently converted or is converting all their online TV show videos to Flash. As of the moment I can't find any place to watch the Castle show, a huge loss!!!!!

Have you tried downloading flash player from here? https://www.adobe.com/go/getflash
If not, uncheck the optional crap if you dont want it, download, save to desktop or wherever you desire, close your browser and run the installer and see how you go.

Hi you don't say which browser the issue is happening with and if it happens with all browsers ?
If Internet explorer,
Make sure Adobe shockwave flash element is Enabled, Use Alt+TA or Gear symbol on the top right and Manage add-ons.

Switch to Software rendering,

If you see a Blue circle with a slash through it,
Right click it to Disable Active x filtering,

Also available with Alt+T or Gear symbol on the top right and Safety/ Uncheck Active x filtering.

Ah, thanks. Sometimes I forget that there is such a thing as Internet Explorer. I use Firefox. I'll check whether it works with IE. It seems that some developers, maybe even Adobe, deliberately make software that will not work with Firefox. How anybody could prefer IE over Firefox I have no idea.

ie10 works perfectly in my book,
I personally don't see the need for Firefox which I do not have installed,
Internet explorer is my only installed browser,
Cheers.
