Solved Can I make a partition for storage?

Hello, I did a dual boot configuration on Sunday with Windows 7 on Partition C and Windows 8 on partition E. I shrunk the E partition with the intentions of using the new (3rd)partition for storage so it can be shared with Windows 7 and 8 in case I'm on one OS and want to save something that I want to have access to on the other OS.

Is this possible? The 3rd partition is already created and I was hoping to see it through the computer window (windows key + E) on the harddrive section and it wasn't there.

If you have a NTFS disk it will be important to keep you from ending up with dynamic partitions. That's why the Disk Management picture is important. In WIN+E you cannot see the real number of partitions and their status. You see only those partitions that have a drive letter.

That is unreadable. Make a snip with the snipping tool. You find that in Start > All Programs > Accessories. Try to store it as .png and upload it here.

At least I can see that you do not have any dynamic partitions yet - they would be yellow.

You can make another partition out of the unallocated space, but use partition wizard instead of windows, or you can always make an extended partition then make a logical partition.

He already seems to have 4 primaries - as far as I can decypher on these blurry pics. He cannot make ANY new partition. Dynamics would be guarenteed.

You have 3 Primaries now, like I said, install Partition Wizard to make a 4th Primary if that`s what you want, don`t use Disk Management.

You only have 29 GBs there, I would just add it to C

What you want to do is steal some space from D

Ok. step:
5. In the middle pane, right click on the empty unallocated partition or volume and click on New Simple Volume. (See screenshot above)
