My system have 8gb of ram and as i observe while opening mkv file, firefox with about 15 tabs, cgminer the ram usage shot up to 5-6gb. At that point windows start warning about system run out of ram and some time it crash the media player classic (madvr).
Is that normal for windows to act so?
Usually you would see that error if you do not have the page file on, the page is on and either not set to be managed by the system or large enough, or if you are real low on hard drive space.
What are your page file settings(virtual memory.) Also does your video system use system main memory? Or does it only use on board ram?
(Thanks Brink. I was just searching for that Tutorial)
If your video does "borrow" system ram and you are playing video when the system is loaded you could run into a shortage. For normal programs though, your virtual memory should keep up unless conditions are as Brink has specified.
Thanks Brink and Mile,
I am using ssd so following the Sean ssd guide on overclocker.net i put my page at 1gb. Should i increase the amount or leave it that way and buy more ram?
Do you also have a conventional HD on the system? If so you can put a larger page file there. If not then it's a choice of more ram or increase the max page size.
1GB is to small for a page file. It's best to have it set to be managed by the system so that the page file can be automatically increased in size as needed.

That's nice, but on a small SSD you want to have a small pagefile. I always set mine to 1 or 2GB and never had a problem. I wonder why the OP needs a gezillion FF tabs open. If you have no space, you have to manage it carefully.
