How have you got the idea of disc error?
There are two crash dumps only (and nothing else) in the zip, and both of them are pointing out to a very common cause, an outdated XBox USB wireless controller.
Update it from here:
Software Downloads | Microsoft Hardware
Also, install Service pack 1 and all other windows updates. Otherwise the system will remain vulnerable to threats.

AVG antivirus, which is a crapware only, is contributing to the issues as usual.
Code:

Uninstall AVG following
http://www.avg.com/us-en/utilities . Use
Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and
free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one, for a safety reason, as the installed antivirus is failing.
Let us know the results.

EDIT: We need to see what is controlling ACPI externally there. Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using
NirSoft DriverView :
- Download and execute Driverview
- View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
- Edit > Select all
- File > Save Selected Items
- In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
- Zip the .txt file and upload it.
Also upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
- Click on the start button
- Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
- File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
- Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
- Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
Apparently there is no issue with Storage devices. But as it is an old laptop (and most probably be factory installed), some things are must to check.
