Solved Corsair H80i Problems

Do rad first with AIO's. Every install is a little different due to layout. Some times it's easier to use a piece of wire and do a temp install on the rad, install the pump/cpu sink then finalize the rad/fans.

Yeah I used to struggle to hold my top fan's in position when placing the rad until this build when I had a brain wave lol. Now I use twist ties to hold the fan's in place then i'm able to hold the rad in position while i put the screws through the fan's. It used to be a 2 person job lol.

How do you use wires/twist ties to hold the fans? My rad doesn't have holes all the way through.

I have mine set up as push pull so have to fit one set off fan's to the bottom side and then sandwich the top fans between the rad and case but it's difficult to hold the rad in one hand aswel as placing the top fan's and screwing them in from outside of the case. So I place the top fan's and tie some of the little parts of the fan to the case just enough to keep them in position while I screw in the screw's. The screw's have to go in from outside the case and through the fan's into the rad.

Lol's Yeah it was a real pita but it just came to me that I could attach the fan's first but just use 1 shorter screw to hold each of the top fan's in place and then just use 3 of the normal screw's per fan to hold it all in place

Why I didn't think of it sooner I don't know as I've taken it in and out god knows how many times.
I've not seen those before. I'm trying to stop drinking the S**t though as it's doing me no good at all.

FWIW, I installed my pump first and then the rad. I should add mine was a simple installation, with just one fan and a small rad in the rear of the case.

Thanks, 50/50, I guess I'll have to do some trying on my own to see how best to go. My rad does have two fans.

I decided to install the pump first while the mobo was outside the case so I could make sure it went on perfectly. The mounting of the pump is more important than mounting the rad lol. Every instance is different though.

Good point Kelly. I have always added all I can to the board before committing to the case.

Well folks, I've come to the conclusion the H80i is a POS.
The Link software won't speed up the fans on any group or profile, they run at a constant speed.

On anything other than Balanced they run at full speed or about 2000RPM, both of which are horribly noisy. I have both grouped with AVG CPU temp too, but it ignores it. I can find NO combination that will let the fans run at a low speed at idle or ramp them up when under a load.

With the Link uninstalled fans appear to run about 500RPM, static speed. CPU gets to 90C with IBT standard, because, well the fans don't speed up! This is with no overclock or fiddling with Vcore.

I consider this cooler a no-go for me and won't be recommending it to anyone.

I will connect the 2 fans and pump to the board CPU fan headers and see what happens.

As I said, no matter how I configure the fans, they do not change speed at all in any way whatsoever.

The fans that came with the bloody thing, they are connected via the supplied y-cable to the pump.
Sorry, Corsair is beginning, no they have, made me very dissatisfied.

Just a thought chap but when I just realised what you said before. "I have both grouped with AVG CPU temp too, but it ignores it." Due to how quickly the cpu can change temp you should set them up to change speed with the coolant temp.

I have no coolant temp, is it the same as H80i temp? I've done that, fans are at fixed speed.
