It is a control thing...sense z3r010 won the Best Windows Website for 2009 people will scrutinize the site even more and if the chat room on the independent site was to go a little haywire it wold look bad on the entire Windows Forums Network that z3r010 has going

I agree! Although it is a nice offer you would have to give all control to the admins on the forum and that is not possible, it being your server and all.

Why should there, it has already been pointed out that there is no need for one you have the Chillout Room if you want to just post nonsense just post about things that don't fit into the other forums.

The site works very well the way it is now so why change a winning combination.

I agree with Joan. Plus there is chat within SF gadget, and users can use IM if they choose. Im sure John has enough on his plate, but since I cant read his mind he is gonna be the final word of course.

While I agree that we do not 'need' one, keep in mind we do not 'need' a lot of things that we have.

A chat is a great way to communicate (aside from threads). Although of course it can cause more problems then it should.. Of course I doubt anyone will see a chat on SF.

They use too many resources and I don't like them.

SQL queries, worker process time etc

When you have as much traffic as there is hitting these servers, you have keep the queries and the overhead to a minimum to keep a responsive site without spending any more money.

When you have as much traffic as there is hitting these servers, you have keep the queries and the overhead to a minimum to keep a responsive site without spending any more money.
