Hi. I'm having problem with my airlive WT-2000pci wireless card. I want to change mac address/network address under windows 7 x64bit 7600rtm but with no luck. I'm using latest official drivers for 64bit vista, I have even tried older drivers but nothing helps. When I log onto windows XP i can easily change mac address with device manager>properties>advanced>network address and i just enter desired mac address. This option (network address) doesn't exist in Windows 7. I've done windows 7 update and device manager refers the wireless card as Ralink RT61, not as Airlive WT-2000pci as it did before the update. I've googled for hours but found nothing that could help me, I've even send mail to airlive support but with no reply so far. I'm desperate to change my mac address since my Wireless ISP has mac authentication for every account and I have 2 accounts and I want to use them from 1 pc (hence 1 wlan card 1 account). This is the only thing making me keep dualboot win7 and xp on my machine.
Is there solution for my problem? Regards, Samir, Bosnia.

Your MAC should be the same given its a hardware tied address not a software tied address.

Yes I know that but my ISP doesn't want to turn off mac auth for security reasons.

@zigzag3143 thanks for your help, much appreciated ;)

Your mac address should not change regardless of your os.
You should be able to run any os and your mac not change.
If you are dead set on trying to change you mac try this.
Change MAC Address (Spoofing) for Windows 2000, 2003, XP, VISTA, 2008
Just run it in compatibility mode.

O yea BTW welcome to the forums. and sorry if I seem a bit tense I just got called into work...

.

I've tried dozens of programs for changing mac address but with no luck and smac is one of them. When I enter the mac address it says disabling and after few seconds enabling but actually it doesn't do anything and I am still connected and surfing and yes I've tried compatibility mode for xpsp3.

Thanks, no biggie. I know the feeling.

Nope. As I said in the first post there isn't option network admin MAC address or sth similar on windows 7. However there is one when using XP and it works flawless.
As you can see from my screenshot nothing about mac changing. I have atheros lan card and it has option for mac changing via device manager, interesting.

EDIT: there's only 2 available drivers for x64 vista. I could try the other ones but they are only for x86 architecture and doubt they would work.

When you install go into options, tell it find mac address run it on both Xp, and Win 7.
and let us know if they are the same or not.

Im off to work ill be back in about 5 hours... :(

Sorry I couldnt stick around to help longer.

Default MAC address is same, on xp and win7. I've checked it via ipconig and smac and similar programs and by ailive utility. But anyway if you think it might help I could give it a try.
BTW google says you can change mac address via registry, I did it, reset my pc but still default mac is there.

As far as I know the mac addy is guid with the first six mfr. I know how to spoof a mac addy, but I cant remember how to change it and have it be persistent. Let me investigate

No I don't want to change my mac permanently but to change it for a while so that my wireless access point thinks I'm using my other pc and my other account. The term is 'spoofed' as you mentioned it, my bad. So basically I want to use 2 accounts on 1 PC.

OK, didn't know mac changing is considered as spoofing. This is probably the first time I've heard this word :o
But thanks for your time.

You mentioned using an wireless access point.
Do you have access into the A/P's admin console?
If so you should be able to add the Win7 Partion into the directory.

Can you go into cmd and run ipconfig /all on both machines.

Copy both sets of outputs into here so i can check the settings.

Normally When it comes down to stuff like this I try to stay clear but after reading your first post I saw it was for a legit reason...

So i will try to help you as much as i can.

Finally airlive support replied:

Dear Sir,

We are sorry to inform you that we don't have Win7 driver now. So we can povide you windows 7 support now.

Thanks for choosing AirLive products.

Best regards

AirLive Support Team
So I'll guess I just have to wait until Win7 becomes commercial and for the appropriate drivers to be released.
