Solved Keys don't repeat when held down unless FilterKeys is ON

So I have this strange problem, where I have to turn FilterKeys ON to have keys repeat when I hold them down. Otherwise, only one character appears when I hold down a key, and only one character is deleted when I hold down the backspace key. It was working one day, but when I woke up the next day the problem occurred. The computer stayed on all night so it shouldn't be a startup issue. Ran an antivirus scan and used a registry cleanup tool, but neither came up with anything.

Also, this is a laptop with a built-in keyboard so I can't really just get a new one and I really don't want to use an external keyboard for my laptop.

I've tried searching all over the Internet for my problem, but everyone else suggests turning FilterKeys OFF instead - my problem seems to be the exact opposite.

I've tried checking the Control Panel and everything seems to be fine.

I tried a system restore, but it didn't help at all.

Thank you if you can help me with this severely irritating problem.

Just to be sure it's a keyboard problem, I would try using a usb external one for testing. If it turns out the problem still exists, then the utility at the following link may help;

FilterKeys Setter... for a faster key repeat (in Windows)

Thanks for the response. I don't have an external keyboard at the moment to test it, but I do use a gaming mouse with numbered buttons on the side, and when I hold down one of said buttons, it repeats like it's supposed to, but won't on the keyboard itself. I'm pretty sure this shows it's a keyboard issue. I'll see if I can figure out that link you gave me.

Edit: That link works perfectly! It feels just like it did before this happened. I just have to have filter keys on all the time now, which isn't a problem I guess. Thank you so much.
