Solved Windows did not detect any networking hardware. All drivers up to date

Hi, I have attached a screen shot with details about my computer and the networking problem. I installed some windows updates last week and have not been able to get on the internet since. Uninstalling the updates did not help. I have updated all drivers (per several other threads), but it has not resolved. I have also tried to bypass the network card with an external usb network adapter, but the computer does not detect it either. Help appreciated!

By any chance do you have a McAfee or any Security programs installed in your computer?

I am running Microsoft security essentials. System restore is not working either.

Apparently there's more going on than a bad update here.

It looks to me like Windows is not picking up the Realtek adaptor despite that it's showing as installed.

To fix these types of problems with PCI NIC's, you should shut down the machine and unplug it, push the power button to bleed off power from the board. Open up the case and more the PCI NIC "if possible", reinstall the NIC then plug power back in and boot up the machine then see if Windows will pick it up.

Repair install sounds great, but my windows 7 box is running a "vista to 7" upgrade (downloaded/no disc) so I don't have an installation disk. I am able to use the internet only through my iPad and an older PC running XP so am not able to get the windows 7 download tool onto my windows 7 system. I am able to download windows 7 to USB drive, but not the downloaded tool... Suggestions appreciated!

This should give you an even better reason to try the suggestion I posted which has fixed this issue on many occasions in the past.

Try using YUMI ? Multiboot USB Creator | USB Pen Drive Linux to make the bootable USB stick.

Thanks for the suggestion Chev. There were many other issues popping up that we're pointing to a corrupted OS so I tried the repair install suggested by Brit and it worked! I was able to create the bootable USB by using a shadow copy of windows 7 on my husbands Mac. My computer is running smoothly again and no loss of data or programs. Thank you so much Britton30!
