Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO isn't cooling well

Greetings ! So,a few months ago I bought a Hyper 212 EVO. When I installed it,everything was great. The temperatures were really good ( when only on desktop / Facebook / Youtube it'd run on 30 °C ),then I decided to do something which turned out to be stupid. I decided to re-apply the thermal paste.
After re-applying it and installing the cooler,my CPU runs at 45 °C while on the desktop / random browsing .

Today I wanted to fix it. I made sure to completely remove the thermal compound and re-applying it. I did everything correctly ! Im 100 % sure of that !

Everything looks fine, even though the Hyper 212 EVO looks like he isn't covering the entire CPU ,just the upper part, which is strange.

Any help would be great .

BTW. I used the Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound.

take it off, remove the old thermal paste using a paper and 99% alcohol. apply a small amount of thermal paste to the CPU. should be about the size of a pea. dont spread it, just leave it in a ball. put on the cooler, and tighten it down evenly in criss-cross pattern.

How did the fix go? Noober was on the money except I always apply a very thin film to each surface with a vinyl gloved finger then a small rice grain in the centre of the CPU.

I also use the Arctic Silver cleaning solution/s for getting the surfaces really well prepared as I found the alcohol method does not do it quite so well in my opinion.

The fix didn't end up well ( nothing changed :( ) .

I'd order ArctiClean, trust me,but the shipping would last for 1 month, and I have as much 99 % alcohol as I want, since one of my relatives is working in a hospital,so he can get it with no problem.

Also,Im 100 % sure im doing everything right ! Since I always did it this way and it would always work fine.

If it was OK the first time you installed the cooler and now it isn't, the logical thing to think is you did something wrong. It is difficult to get the 212EVO seated evenly, I have two of them.

You only want to start each screw enough to hold it, less than a full turn. When all are started then tighten each about 2 full turns in a X fashion, reversing the X.

I also don't apply anymore AS 5 than a rice grain size in the middle, no rubbing it on first, that's too much and could squeeze out and short things.

Why did you redo it? Were the temps still 30C before you "fixed" it?

If the fan is still working, it probably isn't seated right. If loosening and retightening the screws doesn't help and you have to take it off again, here's a good article on applying thermal paste, though using a conductive paste like Artic Silver may have its own special considerations (that I've always been happy to avoid):

Best Thermal Paste Application Methods | best application methods, thermal paste,TIM,thermal compound, thermal interface material, best practices,Best Practices for Thermal Interface Material Paste Application Methods and Thermal Grease Patterns

Besides tightening the screws in a diagonal pattern a little at a time, there's also a correct orientation of the X-shaped retention plate. I don't know how much it matters, or if it will even screw down the wrong way, but I do recall the manual makes a point of showing the right way to do it.

I re-did it because I thought I did something wrong since my fan was making some weird noise.
After I removed the fan and everything,I saw that the CM sticker was hitting the fan...

I have the EVO and the one before that, and the supplied fans are not the best. I replaced them in both my systems, and for my main i5-4670 PC, I used a Scythe SlipStream PWM fan that idles around 200 RPM. It's silent at idle and not very loud under load.

Yep well try and get the isopropyl alcohol it id =s the stuff we sue for injections and is a better formula than the other types of alcohol.

Another alternative is acetone, orange oil, and sticking plaster removers easily available anywhere.
