Windows 7 Internet Sharing Via Wi-Fi Multiple Wireless Cards

Hi everyone, I am currently trying to figure out how to share my laptops wifi connection with my Nexus 7. I tried picking one of the wifi adapters and doing an ad-hoc. But the network does not show up on my nexus.

My laptop has the built in wifi card and 2 usb external wifi adapters that I use to connect to wifi. Both of the external usb adapters are connected to the wifi and work on the laptop. I then made the ad-hoc using the internal wifi but again the nexus 7 doesn't see it.

I also then tried using one of the external adapters and made that into an adhoc picked share internet but nothing shows up in the nexus tablet either.

Any ideas?

Hi from Sevenforums,

If you have a wireless router you don't need to share the connection.

Using multiple wireless adapters you do not need.

If you need to share internet access with your Laptop use a virtual router which is a software router on your Laptop.

You do not need to do an adhoc connection.

Im not sure about Nexus 7 but most smartphones can not see adhoc networks they can only see wep and wpa

No router is available I am on the road using my providers wifi and I wanted to share it with my nexus since the antenna is not seeing it.

Anyway to turn the wifi on the laptop so the tablet can see it?

I should point out that you can't create any type of hosted wireless network unless you are using a Windows approved WHQL driver because these drivers have the "Msoft WiFi miniport adaptor" which allows you to create the hosted wireless network.

Once you have that part squared away there are several methods you can use to set up a hosted wireless network.

Suggest the Op reads up on how this is done as there seems to be a complete lack of understanding here. We aren't talking about a hardware type of router, we are talking about a virtual router that you can install on your own PC.
