The camera really doesn't do it justice but I am really happy with how my new h440 turned out just waiting on my led+braided cables. Hence the not perfect cable management for my 6pin 24pin and 8 pin

What are DVD's Gary? Are they like vhs or something? Sound pretty old school anyway

So what if they are old school? Movies on DVD are still being sold and will be for some time to come plus people still have large collections of them. For me, an optical drive is essential.

For years I stuck to plain black cases before taking a massive chance on a white 600T... Told myself it wasn't all that bad because the inside was still black. So, although I'm not a fan of an all-white case (inside and out), I have to say that looks seriously gorgeous.

I concur.. And if my track record of knocking external hard drives off my desk is anything to go on, I definitely shouldn't ever get one of those.

I don't get it.
Buy computer cases with enough 5 1/4 bays you could hide a 12 pack but drag around a usb DVD player. I don't use my Bluray players every day but it's it is there when wanted. When not used you don't even notice it's there.
They don't cost a lot of money and they are very easy to install and use. One button. Done.
A player also give you a chance to dress up funny and go to Wal Mart and search the DVD discount bin with other nice people.

Old school is just old school. They are big old things that take up a lot of space in a PC, a waste of space really. You could use the space for cool things like fan controllers, LED light controllers and water pumps or rads or other such stuff.

USB's are much better, I got one recently an 8GB one for a couple of £ and it works great. I install operating systems off it and motherboard drivers etc it's just simple and easy to use.

Games and such like I download now as it's faster to install than from DVD and you don't have to wait a day or more for delivery.

I can see what you mean mate, I certainly don't need two it's just a force of habit from years ago when my single drive died and left me without one. I still use my optical drives now and then, but admittedly it's not very often.

Not everyone has fast, unlimited internet access. As far as music goes, I can make my own rips with better quality than I can download plus downloaded music is rarely properly/completely tagged; a CD comes with liner notes that are far more complete than most tags on mp3 downloads. I get most of my DVDs from bargain bins; they cost less than downloads and are usually better quality than downloads. Not all music and movies are even available for download. Even though downloads are faster, I can be patient and wait for things. A few days aren't going to kill me.

OSes and programs aren't the only things that come on optical disks.

Just because something is "old school" (btw, that expression is out of date) doesn't mean it isn't any good anymore. Just because you don't feel you need an internal ODD anymore and that external ODDs are better (and there are a lot of people who don't) doesn't mean no one else does. As far as using the space for other things go, that is why cases are made with varying numbers of 5.25" drive bays. Just get one big enough to accommodate the number of devices one anticipates needing.

Braided cables came today along with my leds will update with finished pics+ a night shot later. New case+leds and braided cables coming within a day of each other is like having Christmas twice ^^

They've been saying that about CDs/DVDs for a decade or more and it hasn't happened yet. As far as the piles go, there are ways to more efficiently store them. I have cases that are 7" x 10" x 12" that can store up to 300 CDs/DVDs in each one. I have all my CDs ripped and the album art scanned into my computer. For now, the only reason I'm keeping the case and a half worth of CDs I have is to prove ownership should I ever need to and to serve as another layer of backup. I'm eventually going to destroy them. Although technically illegal (for now; very few people have been brought against people ripping movies, etc. and courts have been finding in favor of them as long they are only for personal use, orphans, etc.), I'm eventually going to rip all my movies as well. It would be way too expensive to buy downloads to replace the movies I already own, not to mention not all movies are available as downloads (the same went for my music). Believe me, for me, an internal ODD is far more convenient and practical. And, as long as the content of CDs and DVDs are better quality than downloads, they will continue to be the most practical source of my content.

Not all radio stations play what I want when I want. Darned few, in fact. I listen to CDs in my vehicle far more often than I do the one radio station in my area that barely comes close to being to my liking. YouTube videos have lower music quality, the selection is limited, and burns through far too much bandwidth.

As far as OSes and programs go, true, a USB stick is more practical but they are only a tiny percentage of the content one can get from CDs and DVDs.

When music or movies are more then a passing fancy then a optical drive really comes into play. I can admire the clean look of systems without them but as mentioned this is what personalizes a rig. With well over 3000 cd's, DVD's and BD's I run two in all my rigs.
