Ok, so this isn't your everyday freezing/lag issue. I can game run programs no Problem. This issue I'm experiencing is When I go to type something, weather a Document or just in the browser bar, I can start typing, then I it won't type, but then all of a sudden the stuff I was typing, appears. It's almost as if the hard drive stopped spinning for a split second. The funny thing is I am running a Samsung Evo 1TB SSD drive and not a roundy....The roundy one, just stores my Data and Docs. My SSD has everything else, programs/Games.

I know you can't do a Chkdsk on an SSD...but wondering if anyone else has a similar issue with an SSD.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

svchost is only highest thing on there and chrome, since I have that open...I removed some AMD dual processor program that I installed at some point, why? I haven't a clue since I had an Intel i-7.....that might be the culprit....I'll soon see....So far when I typed this message, it didn't happen....I'll do a restart after I finish running a program I just started...

Make sure you have a perfect install as compiled in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 especially running a Clean Boot, performance AV suggested, and the other tools and methods which have worked best in tens of thousands of installs we've helped with here.

If that doesn't help, work through the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/220165-troubleshooting-steps-windows-7-a.html including the hardware tests. If your files being worked on during hangs are on the HD, test it first.

@Greglocker, Thanks. I'll have to look into Samsung's website to see if they have a diagnostic tool, as I can't run a chkdsk on an SSD drive. worst case scenario, I'll perform a clean install. I don't mind, as I typically do this once or twice a year...

@nooruddin76, Thanks as well. I didn't find anything out of the ordinary. I also notice it's not only whey I type, but when I try to scroll with my mouse too...it's like a system hang of some sort...

EDIT: Sorry, I had a Sr. Moment...I kept saying, I can't perform a chkdsk on an SSD, when in fact, you can...it's a DEFRAG that you can't do on an SSD....Sorry for my stupidity...but I'll run that chkdsk later..then also run the HDD diag tools along with Memtest86. I'm sure all are fine and it's just an OS error than I can easily fix with a repair or a new clean install....I'll post back as soon as I complete these things.

Thanks for your help!!!

thanks, I ran the HDD Diag and it came up clean/passing.... I ran chkdsk/f/r and it found stuff I've never seen before. Still having an issue, but I called Samsung, he told me that it sounds like an input/output issue with the OS...which makes sense. Aside from possible software conflicts/issues, I'm going to test my memory tonight. If that passes, I'll probably do a clean install....

I'm still open for more suggestions....

It provides a Disk Check tutorial in Step 1 of the Toubleshooting Steps you were referred to test the HD. This is not the same test as HD diagnostics

What diagnostics did you use? It says clearly in the tutorial link for HD Diagnostics what to do with Samsung.

I don't remember, it was off the Hirens boot disk...but I'll look at that tutorial again...sorry, but the link takes me to Samsungs website (ES-Tool (The Drive Diagnostic Utility) v2.12a (03.12.2009))

1. Test the hard drive using maker's diagnostics/repair full CD scan: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities or from HD Diagnostics. Then run a full Disk Check on all partitions, if necessary from System Recovery Options Command Line. All these links take me to Samsungs website that does not have any tools for my drive...

This seems to be the only one that I can use: Samsung Drive Manager 1.0.147 (10.28.2011) and this is for external drives.

I'd use Downloads | Seagate. Download ISO burn to CD with Windows Image burner, boot and run Extended Scan.

Those Samsung links were live just a month or so ago. I'll let John know so he can update them.
Thanks Gregrocker, I'm just finishing up my 5th pass with memtest86, no failures here either. As soon as I get back to my desktop, I'l;l download this and run that.. I appreciate your help!

Ok, I downloaded and ran a S.M.A.R.T Test-which passed and the Short Drive Self Test. What other tests do you recommend?

I have Short Generic, Long Generic and Advanced Tests to choose from. Which the Advanced comes with a warning:

The Advanced Tests menu has options that could erase your data or make the drive unusable for your system. If you continue you could lose data.

Be sure to back up all critical data before using any Advanced Test.

Seagate is not responsible for lost user data.

Please read the help files or contact Seagate Technical Support before using Advanced Tests.

Press F8 to enable Advanced Tests. Click Cancel to go back to Basic Tests.

I'll pass on that one I think...

You want the Long test as I'd specified to repair if necessary.

Data should always be backed up against drive failure.

Waiting to also hear the results of second Disk Check.

Ok, doing Long Test after I run the 2nd Disk Check....
