Hi All Windows Expert,

I have a Windows Server 2003, Win7Pro desktop A (User: John) and Win7Pro desktop B (User: Mary). 2003 sharing to Everyone has no problem. But I am stuck in this situation. I want John can Read & Write all files in 2003 folder (C:/testing) , Mary can only Read it.
They are in the same workgroup, Win Svr 2003 already added John & Mary user account, they have same password. In the folder(C:/testing) sharing setting & security setting, I have set John to Full Control, removed Everyone on both settings. But I still get this message when I click on the folder in desktop A (John) - Windows cannot access , You do not have permission to access.
Did I miss something? If I can't solve this, I can't move on Mary side.

I would be grateful if someone can provide any suggestion,
Thanks,

You have Server 2003, but do you have a Domain ?? Let's start there since that's the easiest way to get the granularity you want.

Suggestions won't help you here.

Only precise directions for NTFS file sharing can allow you to set this up yourself.

You must read and understand everything that is in the following link in order to accomplish what you need to do here. It's not easy or simple but it's the only way. ;)

Share Permissions and NTFS Permissions Folder Access Control & Folder Permissions - AD and Exchange Quantum Singularity
