Hi,For some time now been having this problem with chrome when I open goggle I get a note on bottom right of screen Resolving Host.
Now been looking through goggle regarding this problem have tried the dns software and with no luck and said to set the dns at (Ipv4) at top row 8:8:8:8 bottom row 8:8:4:4.
It also mentioned the (Ipv6) should change to top row 2001:4860:4860:888 Bottom row 2001:4860:4860:8844.
Now would that method make any changes to the resolving host pain in the bum.
Have cleared the goggle cache and all other sorts of things.
Any help on this Please.
Many thanks

Let's flush the DNS cache and restore MS's Hosts file. Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.

@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop.

Right click the .bat file and choose to Run as Administrator. Your computer will reboot itself. See if that fixes it.

You're welcome ;) It wouldn't hurt, but shouldn't be necessary. You likely had a bad dns cache, it happens, but unless you have an issue that constantly causes it, it will be a one time thing. A Guy

Hello,
I have also been having the "resolving host" issue on my laptop at home and on all 3 computers at work. After alot of searching this issue on google and talking to a tech guy I know, I still haven't found an absolute answer for this. I was excited to see your fix on here and thought it would surely to the trick. I tried it at home first on my laptop and it seemed to fix it for a while but the problem has returned.
However when I used it at work, the problem has not returned there. I was wondering if you've had anymore experience dealing with this or any new solutions. I have read that it's a problem between Frontier and Google but I don't know if that's true. I've used Frontier for years so I find it hard to believe this issue would suddenly come up now.
Thanks for any more help you can provide. This issue is driving me crazy!

Welcome to Seven Forums Rosemaryc2. The part of that .bat file that probably fixes it is the flush dns. DNS basically takes a web address such as www.sevenforums.com and translates it to an IP address 172.16.254.1 (not actual address, just an example). DNS cache basically stores addresses you have visited, so they will load faster when you visit them again. If the DNS cache becomes corrupted, by a bad address, or some other degradation, it can cause issues.

A flush can fix that (as at work for you). But it should not return unless there is some other issue. I am not a networking expert, so the question as to why the problem returns so quickly is a hard one. You might try power cycling your router and modem (power down, unplug for a bit, then restart). You could also try changing your DNS provider to something like Google.

https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using

If no help, you might make a new thread, and reference this one.

Thank you for this. I've been having the resolving host issue for a few days and finally Googled it and found this. I ran the batch file, my computer restarted itself, and the problem seems to have gone away. I copied the contents into an e-mail to myself in case it happens again or if someone else I know is having the same problem. Thanks again.

Thanks so much, A Guy! Just worked your magic on my little P.O.S. Acer and it's not so much of a P.O.S. as it was!

Why would you call an Acer that? I mean sure, an Acer isn't a HP. But, they aren't that bad.

Thanks! Two years ago I tried to find a solution to the "Resolving Host" problem and nothing worked, so I switched to a non-Chrome browser. Last month I decided to try Chrome again and found your solution. Since then I haven't had any problems for a whole month. Thanks for your help!

Thanks

I didn't realise how slowly my Chrome was running until I compared it with my wifes laptop, I had noticed the resolving host message but just thought that it was my internet speed.
I looked further into it and after spending many hours on other web page solutions - all to no avail - as a last resort, tried this solution and ......... a resounding success !!!!!!!!
Can't thank you enough.
Oh, and I posted a link on all the other 'solution' web pages!

I am having the "Resolving Host" problem on my laptop, but not on my desktop. Both are running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 and Chrome 42.0.2272.76 m. On the laptop, I have changed the DNS address to 8.8.8.8 and unchecked "Predict network actions to improve page load performance". I have run the flush bat file referenced above, but the problem still exists on the laptop. What can I do now?

Welcome to Seven Forums jjcrispin. Glad we could help

Welcome to Seven Forums orphan58. How do the 2 different PCs connect? Both wirelessly? Via the same router, internet connection? Is the "Resolving Host" problem repeatable? It happens often enough you will see it each time? If so, try booting to Safe Mode w/ Networking, and see if it appears there. You won't want to surf like that for too long as many things are disabled, and the resolution will be low.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html

Also, since the laptop is portable, you might try connecting to another connection, even at a Starbucks or something. Perhaps a neighbor will let you test.

Both the laptop and desktop are on the same wireless router. The problem occurs all the time. I booted in safe mode. I ran Sysbot and fix what was found. I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, but no problems found. I problem still exists in safe mode. Saturday I will try on different wireless network.
