I was seriously thinking of getting that game but I think I'll wait since I decided to return to school. I'm still very curious though so we'll see.

I really enjoyed my first play through. It's a solid FPS for sure. Being able to run n gun or play stealthy when you want is a welcome addition. In fact all the little extra features really help make it a better game. It's not often i want to replay a game or spend time collecting all the hidden items, but I'll definitely be doing it with this game.

I've put that aside for the moment however to play Sniper Elite III. So far, I haven't been disappointed :) It's a lot of fun. Looks great and runs smoothly (although I have had the rare system crash in between loading screens, not in gameplay. Possibly driver related???).

I'm running at 5760x1200, all ultra, SSAA x2.25 with AA on low and it's smooth as butter. Core gameplay is the same as VII but with some welcome additions (improved x-ray for human and now vehicles, more chance to snipe with sound masking and the load out options). It also "feels" less linear even though it still is. You can tackle situations from a variety of ways/methods.

And no more bottles for collectables! I never did manage to find all of them in VII...

If you liked VII - you'll like VIII.

Thanks Patrick. I've decided to definitely wait till to get I get some gaming time. Plus I just bought Metro Last Light complete edition so that I'll be the first game played when I've got time. Hopefully by then the price for Wolfenstein would have dropped.

Anyway my gaming is now on hold as I concentrate on finishing off my Associates degree this year, then Bachelors shortly after that.

Peace

red orchestra 2/rising sun. I still love this game. had it since day one. its so brutally realiatic and soo unforgiving. if you dont use tactic or cover youll last about 2 seconds!

just a shame only die hard fans keep it alive, with only 2000 or so active people at one time. still makes it easy to find a 64 player game on hardcore.

I hear you mate, since I've started my course my gaming time has been somewhat limited. (And I seem to enjoy playing more because of it).

And Metro LL should keep you amused for a bit. It's worth a couple of replays just to try different weapons/styles of playthroughs. I've no doubt you'll get around to Wolfenstein sooner or later, hopefully cheaper and already patched.

Patrick, have you gone through it in Normal with all the aids (I do that just to get a feel for it and acclimate myself with the game :o :p) or straight through Hardcore action? which is my second and subsequent play throughs

I just finished going trhough SEII harcore and I am ready to killed some more baddies... how's the desert on Dem sinus allergies? :D :)

I "thought" I started out on hardcore - Custom setting of Realistic bullets, harder AI with some of the assists, but I was getting way too many headshots etc. Turns out the custom setting reverted it to Cadet mode. Once I realised, I just stuck with the Sniper Elite setting which leaves the tagging, enemy state of suspicious/spotted and aiming assists on.

I'm looking forward to trying the authentic mode - but the main assist I really rely on is the aiming square. I can't seem to hit shit without it :o (And you can't pick and choose what assists are enabled like you could in II which sucks a bit. It's either all or none).

If you've just gone through II on Hardcore, then you'll be right at home in III ;) The only mechanic that has changed in that area of gameplay is that you can get your breath back much quicker for focus mode which is welcome.

Dem sinus allergies are fine for me, but no good for my rig lol. I was a bit premature in saying the game ran butter smooth at my surround settings. I had to end up disabling SSAA. It really om noms the VRAM and was causing way too many slow downs since it was maxing out my 3GB limit. Yeah, Boo hoo to me :p

And while the x-ray cam is even better in III, I do wish they added exploding brains as well... still very satisfying though :D

At the moment I'm working on Watch_Dogs, working my way through the Bioshock series again, and dabbling in Tomb Raider.

Also just bought Borderlands GOTY for $8, Assassin's Creed 3 for $10 and the season pass for Assassin's Creed IV.

I am going through Half Life again while waiting for the SEIII to come down in price and hope patched but mainly cos I am a cheap sob LOL. Thanks for the little write up on the campaign, much appreciated. As always, I am going to start with the easy/normal mode because, like you, I suck at shooting w/o some kind of aid and I am thick headed enough not to understand the added aids they give you :D.

I learn something new yesterday by watching someone played SEIII... I learn that Germans used to speak Italian in Africa back in the middle of WWII  :p ;) :D

I haven't really noticed much need for patching, but yeah I can understand waiting for the price to drop. At least you know there'll be a good game to wait for.

The aids in this one are even more straight forward so you shouldn't have much issues ;)

I had a go on Authentic that maxes difficulty and removes all aids, map, most of the hud and did better than I thought. Still a shit shot though lol. The only thing that really sucks about the authentic mode is no manual saves OR checkpoints. You die, you have to restart the WHOLE mission... challenging.

Actually, the Italian speakers were Italians :)

The Italian government at the time was also Facist and they were allies with Germany and fought in the African campaign, amongst others. (They were pretty shit allies though tbh). When you have your hands on the game, you can tell the difference by the uniforms. They're only in a few missions.

Ahhh, ok so that map I saw was protected by Italians then, it was part of that gameplay video we had already seen... ok, that makes more sense now. I thought it was going to be like ghost Recon Future Soldier where the African Militia was speaking Portuguese.

Just finished Uncharted 3 on PS3 and I started playing PS3 Exclusives from few weeks whenever I get time. PS3 Exclusives was the only reason I bought PS3 in January. I'm totally in love with Uncharted series and if I will buy PS4 next year so Uncharted 4 will be the only reason. This game is so much alive! the story, the action, Characters, Voice Acting everything is just Top Notch and you totally fall in love with everything about Uncharted I mean I used to say people are crazy and maybe the UC series is over-rated but I was totally wrong. I wish this game was on PC and the Graphics could've looked so amazing I mean even on the out-dated hardware of PS3 the game looks very beautiful so just imagine it on PC but unfortunately that ain't gonna happen ever. Next on my list is The Last of Us another game by Naughty Dog! Happy that I bought it few months ago and now time to start playing it :D

Yep. It's the third mission. They're perimeter guards outside a fort. There's not a lot of them in the game - it's still mostly Germans, but yeah it makes sense unlike those WTF? games that have odd accents and languages that don't fit.

I really don't like exclusives. I know why consoles have them, but it does suck missing out on good games because you don't have the platform. I wouldn't mind playing the uncharted series myself, but since I don't have a PS3 and it doesn't look like any of the older games are going to be ported to the PS4 - I guess I'll just have to miss out.

Just started Crysis 3 again, have been itching for an RPG, can't stand watching all the videos about Dragon Age Inquisition, it will be the best game of this year if not the last few. Plus another great open world game coming soon in August i think, but can not seem to remember its name.

Well it might happen when an "Emulator" is created, I know its in trial stages and has been for years so still could take a while but will definitely happen sooner or later, just like the PS2.
We are already getting Red Dead Redemption, which is nothing big but still a step towards the right direction :D

Without exclusives, no one would buy consoles :p
Afaik you will be able to play PS3 games on the PS4, or rather stream them pretty soon. PS4 Backwards Compatibility ? Can you play PS3 games on PS4? - Opinion - Trusted Reviews
And even if you can't, PS3's are extremely cheap now, you can pick one up for as low as 120$ at some places. Or buy a used one with some games for a little more. Best choice IMO :)

Without exclusives, no one would buy consoles :p

lol, yeah I know :) But knowing and liking it are two separate things ;)

Afaik you will be able to play PS3 games on the PS4, or rather stream them pretty soon. PS4 Backwards Compatibility ? Can you play PS3 games on PS4? - Opinion - Trusted Reviews

Hopefully the Playstation Now feature will include more of the big exclusive titles in the future.

And even if you can't, PS3's are extremely cheap now, you can pick one up for as low as 120$ at some places. Or buy a used one with some games for a little more. Best choice IMO :)

True. it's definitely an option. Although I'd rather put my money towards a PS4 and hope Playstation Now fills in some gaps. I was given a PS3 console that needs a replacement drive, although it would be cheaper in the long run to buy a 2nd hand one with controllers+games than it would be to fix the unit I have if I really wanted to play some of the older titles.

As it is, I'm flat out just getting through my PC library and i have a few unplayed 360 games that I just never seem to get around to playing...

We are already getting Red Dead Redemption, which is nothing big but still a step towards the right direction :D

For what platform? It's already on the PS3 and there is no confirmed PC version or are you talking about the sequel, RDR 2 coming out on Xbone and PS4?

I know that I'm looking forward to Red Dead Redemption 2 and if it doesn't come out on PC the same time as consoles (or ever), I'll definitely buy a PS4 for it. If the original does come to PC, I'll buy that too. I'd love to play that game with much higher quality and possible mods.

Actually I myself have been thinking about getting a PS4 for quite some time now, even more so after this years E3. So many games coming, I think only 40-50% of all the upcoming games on PS4 were mentioned in the E3, a LOT were left out. And they are looking gorgeous.
I am a die-hard fan of open world RPG's and only PS4 is getting top of the line completely open world RPG's mostly. Japanese take their jobs quite seriously :p
Not to mention already such a vast library ready to be played, from The last of us to uncharted series, infamous, resistance and many others, it truly pains me to see this competition between platforms has kept so many great games from being enjoyed by millions of others.
And RDR is probably coming to PC according to rumors, its rockstars MO :D
Still, i would be satisfied for a few quarters with Dragon Age Inquisition and Witcher 3.
On the other hand, just picked up COD: Ghosts for 15$ from a retail store, my first COD on PC. Last COD I played was MW3 on xbox. Looking forward to it.
And been playing Warface and Planetside 2 recently. PS2 looks so "pretty", and mad fun with friends.....too bad i dont have ANY interested in it -_-

After MS refused to allow my Fanatec wheel to be supported on the Xbone, (which was the official wheel for Forza 4 too) I decided then to boycott the xbox. (technically they could've allowed an adapter to be used, but they wanted to charge a fortune to license it. Instead they were trying to force people to buy another inferior wheel from another manufacturer. Absolute contempt for former loyal customers was the straw that broke the camels back)

Besides, the PS4 is the superior console this time around. And yeah, there are a lot of great games indeed coming to the PS4 :) I like open world RPGs too and enjoy playing them on consoles the most. They're great time sinks.

And RDR is probably coming to PC according to rumors, its rockstars MO :D

lol, R* and rumors... When it comes to R* - I'll only believe it when it's released :p

It just seems odd that they'd finally release it on PC so close to the release of RDR 2. Ah well, wait and see ;)
