What Games Are You Playing?

i'm playing a lot of BF3 - it's a pity my k/d is awful, but i'm still having fun!

i dont care about my kdr! kills only give 100 points, flag captures give 200+250, and revives give 100! i average a score of about 1500-2000 and tend to get only about 10 kills a round of large conquest.

im only level 5 though, only played it bout 3 hours

Looks and feels more like BFBC2.5 than a successor to BF2. Same small maps, same style gameplay, same console feeling; only real relation to BF2 over BFBC2 is the addition of jets. Unless the Karkand map pack has any redeeming qualities, I really don't see BF3 having any longevity like BF2 did (and still does if you consider between 4-5000 people still playing in the evening).

partly agree with you there stormy - although i'm pretty sure that DICE did say sometime than bfbc2 was a stepping-stone to bf3, so maybe you could call bfbc2 bf2.5 instead.

so what's left out of bf3 that was in bf2?

1 - commanders (which includes arty, uav, vehicle drops etc)

2 - big maps - the first time i played bf3 i got in a jet and was surprised by how small the map (operation firestorm) was (or maybe the jets just go too fast :huh

3 - battlerecorder files

4 - voip - was present but very buggy in bfbc2, fully working in bf2 why have they put voip into battlelog???

(5... - probably other stuff that i can't think of right now)

i think bf2 may have been a bit of a high point of PC gaming (even though i don't want to play it anymore).

bf3 is still fun though - the more i play it, the more i like it. i would like it even more if they had a colour-blind mode as in bfbc2. sadly i've heard they have no plans to do it though - it must be a simple (even trivial) thing to program. to me (and nearly 10% of males) who have partial red/green colour-blindness, the orange of an enemy looks too close to the green of a squadmate. i play a lot on a particular server which has friendly-fire on, and squadmates aren't too happy when i kill them in a moment of panic.

The really sad part is I have just over 5.5 hours into MP, and I am already starting to lose interest in it. Definitely won't be putting the same kind of time into this game as BF2 (almost 2000 hours over about 4 1/2 years).

Wow, I forget if I already posted here, sorry if I did. But if anybody has heard of it, I'm playing Marathon. Very old game. It's freeware now, so if anybody is up for a super long campaign with a real challenge, I would advise getting it.
