Solved Infinite reboot loop after a BSoD and attempted windows updates

No packages "pending" anymore. But on reboot you still see it's trying to install "something"?
Still the same in "safe mode"?

You can delete d:\reboot.xml and s:\pending.xml. No pending stuff anymore... Useless files now. Patches you uninstalled using "dism /image:d:\ /remove_package ...." will be installed automatically later. Why the heck it doesn't produce a crashdump grrrrrrr ;-)

Safe mode is still looping as well

I'm not sure I would say it's trying to install something. This is the last screen that appears.

I don't think it's "crashing" I think it's restarting intentionally, but it can't get past that screen.

I do not have a folder named "select" in my_test. I also don't have a controlset001 in my_test. I do have one in system, and the value for start in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\my_Test\controlset001\services\trustedinstaller is 2.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\my_test\Select isn't on your machine????

Anyway set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\my_Test\controlset001 value Start to 4. Sure previous vale was 2?

Reboot and post results. Still "configuring windows"?

I'm certain there's no folder called select. The value is 2, but it's not in that folder. There is no controlset001 in my_test

So HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\my_test\ControlSet001\services\TrustedInstaller : Value Start on the right side has value 2 (autostart). Strange default value=3 (manual) it only starts when you styart it manually, or another program does it.

Anyway set value Start to 4 please. Succesfully? If so reboot normally

reg load HKLM\my_test d:\windows\system32\config\system (this loads the win7 registry from win recovery environment)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\my_test\ControlSet001\services\TrustedInstaller set Start to 4 (= disable)
To put it back to what it was: set it to 2 (automatic). But 3 (manual) is the default.

Loading the registry and changing that key was the trick. But now TrustedInstaller isn't running!

Did you delete \reboot.xml and \pending.xml already?

Please check eventlog for any crash info and other relevant errors. Post results

Try to set the "start type" to manual and apply.

After that press start to service. Service is really started? Crash?

I set start back to 3.

How do I load the windows module installer?

I haven't deleted reboot or pending.xml

What event log should I be checking?

My internet is also currently broken.

event log... hmmm just run eventvwr and check the last day. I think system log or setup log.

Got trustedinstaller running.

There are 65000 events on the system log since June 9th, and 2.2 thousand events on the setup log with nothing since July 10.
